is the nookling store rigged or random?

So where to start, I've been playing animal crossing new leaf for a long time, recently got back into it months ago, but one thing that really is bugging me is how I think the nookling store is rigging me with the same wallpapers and flooring. I'm a tt'er so I've been tt'ing through days trying to get the cabin wall and floor but they just never show up, it's always the same ramshackle wall or bamboo floor, and honestly it's kinda making me feel like it picked a certain set of walls and floors right from the beginning, I have a full cabin set except for the wall and floor (which is kinda stupid). but another thing that's also been bugging me is fortune cookies, it's the same deal with the walls and floors, I only get samus helmets, hero boots and yoshi eggs almost every time. Are the nookling shops rigged or do I just have extremely bad luck?

I'm pretty sure it is random. Either your really unlucky, or time travelling effects it

Nah, time travel never affects it. Back when I had the T&T Emporium (I have the one before it right now) it's always completely randomized. I usually see a new one every three days I time travel. If your store is tier 1, It could just limit what you can buy. I'm pretty sure you just have pretty bad luck, Time Traveling never affects it because I do all the time!

I don't time travel much, and I've been noticing that I get the same items again as well. Especially the wall decorations... maybe there just isn't a lot of wall decorations to go around

I believe New Leaf still has catalog A, B, C, to some extent.

I have multiple towns but each one still has some furniture or stationary that appear more frequently in those towns than others.

And I waited two years with multiple towns and never saw the blue gym shorts until someone here (Nenya tyvm!) had one in her catalog.

So yeah I understand your frustration!

it never really happens with furniture though, I have completed many sets that I need it's just always the wallpaper and flooring weirdly, although I do have TIY and these items are still not appearing, honestly its just strange in my opinion

I might be wrong, but the chain will end if you actually buy the items and stop time travelling. Or actually buy the items and continue time travelling.

This happens to me too often as well. And funnily enough, I had the exact same experience while looking for my cabin wall and flooring!! I would like to think that buying the frequently displayed items helps cycle them out and introduce new ones, but I don't think it does. It's just random. We're just unlucky :,D

Random. I have restarted my village multiple times and every time I check in I see different products and items.

I'm pretty sure they're random, I've never had such bad luck! :O
My friend tt'ed and then all her furniture stayed the same for a couple days and within about 3 (The amount of time she tt'ed forward)
They were back to a cycle of changing. xx

It's intentional and has been in the game since the GameCube days. When you visit another town and go shopping, Timothy or Thomas will mention that you should come back because you'll find things you won't see in your own town.

It's not just a sales pitch, the game intentionally keeps some things rare to encourage players to travel and trade.
