Is the beginning of my game working properly?

Better late than never but I have just bought Animal Crossing New Lef today .

I have watched a few people playing this online so I hadn't a general idea of how the game should play out.

I got a little into the game and noticed a few things were off.


I started a new game and the person who greeted me on the bus to was Isabelle. This in and of itself was strange as I thought it was Rover who was mean to to greet you.

Then I realised I hadn't created my own name Or city name and they were already set to the name gold and the town to pallet.

So I reset the game an and started a new one. This time I was greeted by Rover who asked for my name but not the town. I've started many new games and the same thing happens every time.

It won't let me select the town name. He just states that she can see that I have tickets in my hand to Pallet town.

These are pokemon references 'gold' And 'pallet'.

I've never played animal crossing but I've deleted all the Data on the memory card and still I have the the same problem.

ANyone have any idea what's happening here?

uhmm well that is very weird. where did you buy your game from? digital or physical copy?

is your game a preowned copy? if it is, the person who sold it might not have erased their save data. this would be why isabelle has shown up on the train bc she's just telling the player on the file that there has been an update (welcome amiibo)
not sure about the town name after restarting though. if it is a preowned copy then maybe you started a new character in the old town instead of resetting.
edit: if you clicked the 'new save file' option to reset, you have made a new character instead of resetting. to reset, click on the mayor character's name file, and when isabelle asks if everything is ok click the bottom option, and from there should be an option to destroy the town.

isabelle showing up on the train might just be her introducing the welcome amiibo update.

if it's a preowned copy, the previous data might not of been deleted, and you might be creating a new character in that town, rather than creating a whole new town. idk though

Your copy is probably an already used copy, the previous owner just forgot to delete their town. Oh, and you're probably selecting the option "new save file" and creating an alt, but you've got to load your mayor's file and talk to Isabelle to delete the town. Btw Isabelle greeted you on the train instead of Rover because that's the introduction to the "Welcome amiibo" update.

I think you may be clicking on "New Save File" instead of "Continue". When you click on the 'continue' option, you'll then have the option to erase the previous town data.

Like everyone else said it's probably a pre-owned copy. However, before deleting the town, loot it for anything valuable and sell it to people here or have someone else hold the items for you when you make your new town

It might be a preowned copy. Try holding the A, B, X, Y, L, and R buttons when starting up the game (like hold them when you click it on the home menu) if you want to delete the old save files and make the game act like a brand new one.

That sounds like a saved file that hasn't been used since before the update. If you go on continue on the start menu you should be able to follow the instructions to delete the previous town!
