Is river fishing a waste of time??

I was just thinking about how it would be a lot funner to fish in the rivers instead of going to the Ocean all the time. Can you actually make a good amount of money by river fishing though? I mean I know you can catch some rare big fish once in a while but is there any commons that are actually worth spending time fishing the rivers?

Well, there are some river fish that sell for 10K. I actually enjoy river fishing a lot...even when I get small, "cheap" fish. It's also worth doing to earn badges.

Ehhh... I'd say it's about the same, if not a little less than fishing in the ocean, considering big fish in rivers are rare, whereas they're relatively common in the ocean. In terms of earning bells, you earn less from average river fish than ocean fish, but on the other hand, river fish spawn a lot faster than ocean fish, so it's really a close call. I'd personally recommend ocean fishing, or better yet, beetle hunting, but that's my opinion.

Although if you use the King Tut mask glitch, you can swim in the river while you fish, so it's definitely more fun river fishing in that sense

I've never tried any glitches, but I'd totally be down for that! I kinda just like the idea of actually being in my own town while I fish the rivers. The environment just seems like it would add so much more enjoyment, not to mention there's added chances of villagers interacting with you.

I've been doing the Island fishing thing (along with beetle hunting) for so long it just has gotten really dull..

Dorado season is THE best season to river fish. They are worth 15 thousand bells and in the late afternnon, they are everywhere! I make 100 thousand a day during dorado season And on days they are double the price, WHOOSH!

I prefer Ocean to River too, since there's always the possibility of catching a Red Snapper and making at least 3k. It's not much, I know, but if I want to make bells I usually go to the Island in the first place LOL.

I prefer river fishing. it saves you the trouble of going all the way down to the beach and has a much high number of fish. Even though ocean fish are much higher in price, there are some pretty expensive fish in the river. plus in summer you can catch dorado and they are worth a ton. You also dont have to go through the trouble of constantly seeing sea bass. i just perfer rivir fishing better.

you make more money island fishing at night, than fishing at the river.

but river fishing is more convenient-- you can step back and tend to other tasks if need be and then easily go back to fishing. also, you can save game, which you cant do at the island.

Also easier to catch the sharks and expensive fish with the silver or golden rod in the ocean instead of the island.

Wow, that's pretty genius (on the part of fishing in the middle of scorpion hunting)!

I really never knew that the golden rod changed anything with fishing. Then again I've never had one...
