is my map layout bad?

I quite like that the stores are near each other by the train station and that the plaza is sort of the hub of the town! I think it depends of your theme and personal taste. Are you creating a city sort of town? Or a whimsical forest? Or something entirely different? Maybe this would work well for a city type since everything is already so orderly?

I like it.It has most of the things I look for in a map:A long, continuous beach that's 100% usable and Re-tail,town hall and the town tree/plaza are all on one side of a long, curvy river. If you're a pond fan then I guess you wouldn't like that there's only one pond and some people might say that there aren't enough open areas for putting in stuff like orchards and parks.I think it's a good map.

A town layout is only bad if the player thinks it is bad.

The secret island is great. One of the qualities I look for

you map is actually close to the layout of my town! i really like it, and when i was planning out my town i had all my villagers south of the river~ i think this kind of map is really fun to play with

Pretty much how my town looks. River is a bit jagged, but other than that everything looks cool. U shaped towns are my favorite. Stores are together. Plaza in the center. Only one pond too. Cool house placement too.

I think it really all depends on you. I have a few things that I look for in my town
. Retail near the beach area to sell
. Town hall is above and near the plaza
. The campground is on the right side
. Secret island :D

I actually really like the placement of the plaza! My plaza got placed on the side of the town and I wish it was more centralized! Plus the river looks good too, I?d say keep it

This is actually the town layout I kept resetting trying to get! But if you don't here is a link to all possible map layouts

Especially because that doesn't even take into acount things like building placement, native fruit, startup villagers, grass pattern etc!

I like where the plaza is a lot, also that the first bridge is already next to the lake so it's easier to fish on both sides

i'm not sure if i like it or not, what are you guys's thoughts?

Personally, I like the map.

It is one I would gladly work with.

Your mayor’s house is in the area where I would zone him.

That lower section is where I would slot all ten villagers. (To do this, I would suggest having no more than three humans. A fourth would be too much. Have Humans #02 and #03 located immediately south of the mayor. Leave room for the Lighthouse at either end. Reserve the bottom section for your town’ villagers.)

Now, this is how I would work other parts of the town.

The Village Plaza being in the middle is terrific. You can connect it so centrally—and ideally—for accessing the lower half of the town with three bridges. One that goes east/west; the other two in the direction of north/south.

You may have enough room, with the Town Hall and Re-Tail Shop to locate The Roost Cafe.

You may be able to place a Police Station just to the left (west) of the Town Hall.

If what is mentioned in the previous two paragraphs is possible, you can use the area just south of that section to be almost park-like; or like a community area: a Flower Clock (after reaching Perfect Town status) as well as at least one bench. Have a lot of flowers as well. Maybe the Fountain.

I think you have a map with which you can develop a wonderful town.

By the way: What is the town’s Perfect Fruit?

(Suggestion: Look at two of my towns in my signature—Foster and Beauty—and you can see some of what I have done.)

That's actually a really nice looking map you have there. Reminds me of my first town which was
kinda similar to this one. I like how the plaza is central as well as the placement of the buildings.
I think you have here lots of potential to make something great out of it.

I like your map. Everything is very evenly spaced out, no dead spots where villagers won't congregate. And I like where you put your house.

It's not too bad. It has a lot of good features:

-A beach that is connected (not separated which is just annoying, especially when you only need the port)
-The shops are all up one end of the town at the top which is always convenient.
-The main plaza with the tree is bang smack in the middle which is nice

Your never going to get a perfect map but yours has most of the things I look for! The only down sides is the big bit of lake in the middle which makes going from one end to the other just annoying because you can't put a bridge over it and the campsite location could be better. Your house is strategically placed where you could put a bridge. I wouldn't worry about it. All in all I think it's a good map and your not going to do much better.
