I have a controller that has a hold function so when it's shooting star night, I just activate it and leave my game hands-free to do something else lol or if I'm not SUPER lazy, I will use the turbo function and hold 'A' down while my other hand is free to browse or do what ever

Not really a time sink for me personally, once I get tired of making wishes I just go about my normal business and just ignore them for the most part.

I try to go every night I see one posted on TBT, I like to have a large amount of fragments for my projects. you can only get a max of 20 stars, so it really only takes 10-15 minutes out of my day.

Definitely agree with everyone saying to multitask. I also will often detach my joy joycons and hold the right one in my left hand so I have my dominant hand to do something else. I think the weirdest thing I’ve done while wishing on shooting stars is emptying the dishwasher
