Is marriage important?

I cry at weddings, they're beautiful. I remember attending my cousin's wedding two years ago. She finally was able to married her girlfriend. They've been childhood friends and high school sweet hearts. They still have their awkward prom pictures lol. Them marrying to me was them showing all their hardwork finally eloping together as a couple. I guess it's more significant than staying as girlfriend and girlfriend but now as wives Orz. I especially loved her dress. It's only funny because now they have to deal with each other for the time being, I guess which makes it even more beautiful lol.

One day I would like to get married. I do fear getting divorced but I would love to experience getting married and what makes it so heartwarming besides the gowns and stuff. I also find it beautiful hearing people say that they've been together for X number of years and finally been married for X number of years. The dedication of that makes it important orz

Depends. If you do get married make sure a renup is signed so all that bull**** doesn't go in if you two ever get divorced. Most people these days get married for completely terrible reasons. Either the so the guy can show the girl off as a trophy and nothing more on the outside, or because the guy has money. Plus most people are probably in some sort of a rush to get married without actually stepping back an thinking, "do I really love this person"/" do I really want this"? There's a reason most marriages in this country end in divorce.

Btw Marriage predates religion.

Yes, I believe that marriage is important. You become one together, and it shows commitment. If you truly love someone, and they truly love you, wouldn't you want to go all the way?

I think it depends on the couple - they should just do what feels right for them. no one should feel pressured to marry as the only way to legitimize a relationship and no one should feel badly if they don't want marriage.

Marriage means nothing, it's just a silly religious ritual, it only means something to the people who cares about that stuff.

it's lines like this i hate. like what makes my family incomplete? my parents have loved each other for 25 years and they don't need a marriage certificate to confirm anything or make our family 'official'
