Is it worth it to have a fruit orchard?

i never had a fruit orchard for money purposes; i built one just for the aesthetic and because i like how they look aha. but since you seem to be well off with money, now, i guess it all sort of boils down to whether or not you like having a fruit orchard; do you like how it looks? is it an area that you don’t wanna say goodbye to? if so, i’d keep it. if you don’t really care for it or might have a better idea for that area, there’s no shame in tearing it down. it all just sort of comes down to what you wanna do aha

If the bells acquired from selling them (which as you said, you rarely bother with these days) are insignificant in comparison to your Stalk Market earnings and you don't enjoy their presence for aesthetic purposes either, I'd say you might as well get rid of the orchard if you're already pondering it. I've come to find that more often than not, once something bugs me in these games and the source of the problem can be addressed by the player, it will continue to linger in the back of my mind until it's addressed.

I personally never mess with the Stalk Market because I'm too risk averse, so I have an orchard in a particular section of my island that I can harvest every few days, because why pass up the low-effort bells? I also like the way they look, I like having access to all of the different fruits for the sake of it, and until/unless more businesses and buildings are added to the game in the future, they fill a specific area of the island well.

I have a garden/orchard that takes up quite a bit of space, all in all I probably have around 15-20 trees of different fruit. I also just keep them around because I give gifts to villagers that I haven’t gotten photos of yet and fruit is the easiest gift to give.

I haven't decided if I want one or not. I like having them cause they are easy gifts for villagers but I don't know if I have the space for an orchard or just scatter them across my island.

I have a ton of trees though I wouldn't call it an orchard. I use them for easy bells to build inclines and bridges and move villagers if needed. At 200k+ for the expensive bridges it can add up though I have started getting into the stalk market. Even investing 1+ mill bells in the stalk market still won't yield a lot sometimes.

I recently added an orchard, despite not planning for one. I like that I don't have to plant fruit trees around villager yards (areas that I frequent more often -- I only really go to my orchard to harvest fruit or check for fossils in the morning) and get bamboozled by scorpions while running around at nighttime.

Personally, I think they're not really worth the space they take up. I prefer spreading different fruit trees around the island.
Although I have ro admit, I rarely mess with the fruit. I only shake trees when I need fruit for DYIs or for food.

Maybe if you like how they look, but I personally find them annoying and take up a lot of space.

It is very much worth it! It gives me like 64,000 bells with the amount I have every three days and if you put fences around it nobody can take it. Plus I love giving it as gifts when my friends start out

Never had, but it looks nice since it could be easily accessible for me.

It takes up space which is good, since the items are very limited.

May as well plant fruit trees.

Early on, I built a large fruit orchard on my island, as it was one of the best ways to make money without relying on turnips. Now, I'm giving some thought to taking it down, as I have money enough and I can't remember the last time I shook down fruit to sell or eat it.

What are your thoughts? Are orchards worth it? Can they be repurposed as an aesthetic area instead of a functional one? Should I just shrink it to fewer trees per fruit?

It depends on what you have going.

What you want.

My island fruit is the apple.

I made sure to have more of those types of trees than my island’s sister fruit, the peach, as well as the cherry, the orange, and the pear.

I used to have six trees of each of the secondary fruit. (More of the primary.)

I am in the middle of a re-design of my island. One change I have made is to scale back all of the apple, the peach, the cherry, the orange, and the pear trees.

I have pretty much a setup of what I am wanting. And there is still more to do.

When it comes to handling fruit: All the best to you. (Everyone, really.)

Yes, totally worth it! Fruit is one of the best gifts you can give your villagers. Especially if you dont want to "ruin" their house or clothing while increasing friendship. I have at least seven fruit trees of each type so that's around 140 fruit plus my coconut trees so I always have enough for all my villagers.

I was just thinking today that I need to plant more fruit trees. Since I started giving fruit as gift to villagers, I run out very quickly. I really want to do an apple orchard, but it's my native fruit, so it doesn't work as gift for villagers. I'm thinking of planting a small orchard, maybe 2-3 of each tree. I think that would be enough.

I have a small one because i need fruit for gifting villagers and crafting, i have many fruit trees scattered around my island but i prefer not to shake those because they are meant for scenery.

The fruit orchards are one of my favourites! I did a row of each fruit going vertically in front of my museum. ☺

I had one, but I ended up cutting it down and planting a few trees here and there after I felt like I had enough bells. I don’t shake my trees that often and I still have a hoard of fruit so it seemed like a waste of space.

I personally don't like fruit orchards, I didn't even bother making one at the start of the game, but I can see how it can be beneficial especially if you want to gift your villagers for their framed photo...
