My birthday was last week (aug 4) and one of the gifts I got was quite a bit of money ($400) + the debit card I got (with $125)

I was just planning on getting a pair of custom vans, two amiibos and maybe a micro sd card cause I hit the screenshot limit lmao

Which means I have enough for another switch lite and game copy. I have other ideas for islands that I really wanted to do but obviously I only have my current island

I’m just wondering if anyone else has done this? Is it worth it?

Happy late birthday! In regards to the full micro SD, couldn't you just transfer all of your current pics to your computer?

Happy belated birthday my fellow, August baby! Mine is on the 21st, here lol!

I don't know from experience, but I was thinking about this for awhile now. Sadly I don't have the money, so it isn't something that I plan on doing anytime soon, but if I *could* I would totally do it. However, that said, this is just my personal opinion with NO experience. You should do what you want to do as it's your money =^.^=

I haven't did this myself, but its really something I've been wondering about. Since it was all gift money, I suppose you wouldn't be spending your own money (big plus, haha). I think if you believe it would benefit you to get another switch, go for it! Also, happy belated birthday! 🎉 🎉

I think that if it was cheaper in my country (a lite costs around R$ 2.300,00 plus R$ 250,00 only for the game copy - that's a looot of money, feel blessed you can get a lite for the price I paid for the game, roughly comparing currencies) I would def get a switch lite for another island in a different theme. Maybe I'll get one when I get to visit the US again. But I wonder if I would still play both or if I'd abandon the first island

As someone who only got a switch just to play new horizons I understand your dilehmma. I don't think I would ever buy another switch just to have another town though. That said it's your money do what makes you happiest. But since your questioning yourself, it also never hurts to just hold onto your money for a while until something comes along that makes you go "I need that! " with no second thoughts.

I suppose if that’s how you want to spend your money and it’ll make you happy!
I personally don’t think spending the money is worth it when there are so many other things that money could be used for. But that’s just me. You do you! :)

I, personality, don't find it as a good use of money because that's just a lot of money that can be used for something else. If it was me, I'd wait until Switches are at a lower price, probably after a bit of time. However! If you have the money to burn, it's yours. Go ham. I'm stingy with my money, never know when I'll need it, you know.

As someone who took the plunge, I’ve found that it’s been worth it so far. However, I spent months pondering it and there’s multiple reasons why I made my decision (I shared my first island, I’m a commuter, etc) so you might want to think about it.

yes. do it. I would if I could

I say if buying another switch to make another island will make you happy, then go for it! It's your money so you decide what to do with it!

On the side note if you're still hesitant, I'd say give it a couple days and ask yourself that question again. Before I make big purchases, I usually like to make a list of things I want and prioritize the items. That's when I decide where my money is needed most.

In end, do whatever makes you happy! ^-^

If I have that option I'd definitely buy another switch just for animal crossing, but do consider and weigh your options, as that is a real splurge and you don't want to regret your decision in the end... The reason why I would splurge if I could is because I genuinely like ACNH and I really wanted to try a japanese town themed island with neighborhoods and such that is completely different from my current island theme which is cottagecore/natural themed one, so if you're on the same boat as me where you wanted to have another island because you already have a vision for your next island and you genuinely enjoy and love playing ACNH then go for it, buy another switch for another island... Since it's your money your spending anyways so whatever you decide is up to you :D

Thank you guys for all the help! I’ve decided I’m going to take a couple days to fully decide (as yes, it’s a lot of money!) and try to make a list, as reikocakes suggested 😁💖

We have the same birthday along with Bones!! Happy belated birthday to you! I ended up buying an expensive pair of headphones with my birthday money

I have a second Switch, and I made an island on it, but honestly I rarely play the second one. So I personally wouldn't recommend it based on my own experience!

I got a switch lite and a second game and i'm really enjoying it!! I'm not TTing on my main island, so I'm having tons of fun messing around with seasons and events on my second one, and it's been super helpful for farming items too.

I traded in a bunch of old games, consoles, dvds, etc to CEX (a uk-based trade-in store) and got enough in-store credit that my second switch only cost £28 of 'real' money, which made it much easier to justify. maybe see if you can do something similar at gamestop?

I probably would never do this. Unless I was given a free switch I probably can't justify having a second one. My creativity wouldn't really make any big changes with a second island.

Personally I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing. But I can also see it as being a waste. So if your going to do it make sure you use it! I wish we could have a second island to trade back and forth. Plus all the new diy and different color variations you could get with the new island ugh makes me want to get one!
