I've been wondering this since I joined the forum, I've seen people with two towns and I've realised that they bought two game cartridges. I've always wanted to own two towns, one where i can decorate and reset without fear and go off on aesthetic runs, but i'm not too sure. In my search to find a cheap acnl for my friend, i found one for 20 dollars. I don't think I could find it right now but if i search again i could find something just as cheap.

So i'm wondering is it worth buying a second new leaf?

I bought a second cartridge this summer and started up my second town. The biggest issue for me is the time investment. My main town is complete as far as landscaping and all that stuff goes, but I still visit it daily to talk to my villagers, work on the badges, etc. My second town is still a huge work in progress and sometimes I find that I'm so busy just keeping up with the day to day activities that I don't give myself much time to landscape or decorate or anything else. But I'm still glad I got the second town because after finishing my first town, I was starting to run out of things to do. The villager dialog in this game wasn't enough to keep me as invested as it has been in prior games.

So, I would say that if you really want to start a second town and think that you have the time for it or if you're able to work out a schedule to manage both towns, then go for it. I think it was worth it.

I have just very recently bought a second game cartridge (which is the point of this new account lol), back in 2016 I had two old towns and I found my second newer town to be used for new things I wanted to try like new paths or town designs. I got this new one last week to make a more ?organized? town, and experiment with things I?m not too comfortable with in my main town. I find it somewhat difficult to balance the time between them, and I?m already noticing that I?m playing in my older town less. Although it is nice if you want to try new things and have different ideas. One big thing I had a problem with in my old town was the town layout, I don?t remember picking it but I don?t like it that much, but in my new town it is much nicer and less cramped.

my town layout is similar, it had been so long since i last played my main town that one of my favourite villagers moved out. it upset me but the idiot i am saved the game anyway. I mainly just want a town for similar reasons as yours, to try no ideas and be more organized, I aspire to be the "Tumblr designers" i get my qr codes from.

Considering I bought a new cartridge just days ago, I would say it's still worth it !!

My original town is from launch and I never TT'd until recently, and even then only by a few hours to get mail, and I had a lot of trouble letting go of villagers for ones I'd actually prefer because of how long I've had them...

With my new cartridge I've been TTing like crazy and already filtering out villagers, with this copy I don't have any rules for myself and it's been really great ! :) I feel like I can actually get to know most of the cast now, and plan out a town with a theme---my original was very blindly planned. Plus, I finally can have the facial expression I wanted lol.

Also I bought my cartridge, a new one, for 18$ a couple days ago at the local Gamestop. They had used ones for a lot cheaper, so if you're okay with going to irl stores, you can most likely find them for less than 20$ !

Surprisingly, game cartridges are cheap nowadays, maybe due to AC:NH hype, I remember games being over $30, but just last week IRL I found copies with only $20 or less.

I bought a second town and I planned it all but then I got too busy working full time that I no longer have time for it, nevermind my main town. :(

So yeah, definitely have time for it or it'll sit there collecting dust like mine. RIP.

Personally I'd say your better off using saving that money for a switch/switch lite and get the new animal crossing when it comes out.
It depends on your situation if new leaf is a new game to you then maybe.

It's definitely worth it, but like KnoxUK said, I would save up your money to buy a Switch or Switch Lite, as we are only less than five months away from the new Animal Crossing game coming out. It's up to you though if you want another town though. :P

I bought myself a second copy of the game so I could do trades and sales of items more freely and easily. I didn't want to time travel anymore in my main town, so I was pretty happy when I bought the second game to do that with! Now that I'm not trading anymore for a bit, I haven't really used my second game though.. I've been too occupied with my main town.

However, when my main town is completely finished I might want to start up a new town on my second game and start all over again just because I love seeing a town grow over the months/years :) But like other said, New Horizons is coming out soon so I'll definitely be playing that game way more once it's out!

A second town would definitely allow for more freedom in landscaping and a change in gameplay without worrying about messing up your old town. I did exactly that for my second town because there was an idea I really wanted to try out after I had already completed my first town. There's tons of players that actively work on multiple towns but I personally can only work on one at a time because it gets overwhelming for me. I'll leave the other inactive with the last date played written down somewhere so that I can time travel back to it if need be.

Also, as far as speed running the landscape portion of a new town goes... I completed my second town in around 3-5 months on and off. So if you have the means to buy a new cartridge and put time into it, don't let the new Switch game coming out deter you from getting it! There's definitely still going to be traders and NL players to help you along the way before then too :>

completely right, maybe i'll get it and start using it to make dream towns and aesthetics? I think we'll all be playing New Horizons nonstop when it comes out, i'm still trying to think up an aesthetic for my NH town.

I think it just depends on your plans ultimately and how you feel about acnl in the foreseeable future with NH coming.

If you're biding your time on New Leaf until New Horizons comes then there's not really that much time till it comes out. So, if you foresee yourself as completely dropping NL when NH is out, it may not be worth it to you.
Unless you foresee yourself as having a lot of time and what you plan to get out of a second town is actually feasible before NH comes, then it's probably worth it.
Ultimately, as well, used copies aren't that much so if finances aren't a huge factor for you then either way it's probably not going to be a negative purchase for you whether you do get much out of it or not.

Only you have all the answers to that and can weigh pros/cons for your situation. :) Personally, I like having multiple towns but I also don't foresee myself not playing NL in the next year or more to come still.
