Is it possible to use qr codes on the custom design sign?

I have seen people post codes for custom signs, like a cute retail sign or campsite sign, but i have heard that you can only use a code you have created. Is there anyway around this? (i also heard of some windows program, but i have a mac)

You have to transfer the creator ID to your own.
