Is it possible to effectively use more than two pipes?

So I’ve only ever used 2 and not sure what would happen if I ordered more? Is it possible to have 4 pipes linking up in pairs if that makes sense - and if so, is there a specific way to link the pairs of pipes? Or if I place more than 2 is it just random chaos as to which pipe ill appear out of? thank you!

You can place however many- I've done 4. But yes, I believe what pipe you are teleported to is random. We had a theory that there was some way to control this (like which direction you entered, etc.) but so far, exit pipe seems random. Maybe somebody else has figured out whether you can control it?

I ended up just getting rid of all but 2, and it's the only way into the castle...

It's random sadly when you do 3+ pipes. I wish you could color them and they connect to that color only.

I agree. I really wish they implemented this. I wanted to put pipes that go directly to my campsite, the museum, the airport, and the dock. Missed opportunity.

I don't understand why they didn't make different colored pipes and allow those to all link to each other. It's a no-brainer. Multi colored pipes aren't a new idea at all (they were present at least as early as Super Mario World on the SNES), and item customization is a rather large part of the game. Being able to have reliable fast-travel type things between multiple locations on an island would've been incredibly useful, I can think of two other areas on my island I'd love to have separate connected pipes between, and 3 more on my secondary island.

All that being said, with what we have available in the game using 3 pipes would probably work well enough even with the randomness, though it might not be the most reliable way to get around your island. Attempting to use more than that would probably not be worth the time though from a reliability standpoint.

You know I really don't get Nintendo. In Super Mario games the Warp pipes had different colors to them and you can go where they are supposed to go. In this game they brought back the warp pipes but the problem is that you can't change the color and if you use more than two pipes it becomes "RNG" of where they will take you too if you were to use more than two. Two Pipes is your best bet because it always go to the area you want to go to.

I just have 3 on my real island; one to the back middle of my island, one by my house, and one near the dock.

One behind my house, (upper left of my island)
One near the Resident Services Building (the "Center" of my island)
One behind Nook's/Able Sisters (mid right of my island)

I only use when I want to go to my house, or from my house to one of these locations.
Sadly, it is random, but it usually takes a few tries.

The other island i had has 3-4 pipes and it works fine, even though it takes you to the wrong place sometimes

I have 3. One near my shops/resident services, one near the player houses I put at the beach, and one near a player house that is far away on a cliff.
It is random and honestly I think I should remove the one near the beach since I've ended up not using it.

My main island has six pipes.

I have separate areas for different purposes.

So, I don’t get bothered by the randomness.

What might be nice is to make them customizable—through Cyrus—up to the usual eight colors (including its default green). Then, if you want a direct connection, you use no more than two pipes with the same color for wherever you would decide their locations.

Perhaps some of this would be good for people who utilize pipes.

I have 3, one by my house, one by nooks cranny and one on the secret beach. For me at least it's random which one you pop out of but most of the time it's the one I don't want. Just my typical luck lol

as other people have already said, it is completely random. however, it is possible to utilize them if you make daily stops at the same places but said places aren't very close to each other. for example, you could place one by your house, then to the museum if you get your fossils daily, then nooks cranny to sell your assessed fossils, and so on and so forth. while the stops may be random, it can still take you to important places on your island that you maybe forgot you needed to go to to run a certain errand or things like that. idk. personally, i only have 2 pipes - to my house and to a cliff where i keep my clothing for my thrift shop here on tbt. i'd consider adding more in the future but unless nintendo updates it with a way to colorize them and connect them that way (which i'm pretty sure they aren't going to considering the promotional items have been out for a while now) i'm probably not going to utilize more than 2.

Echoing sentiments about color-coding pipes to link them! I used to have four pipes-- one in my main room, one outside resident services, one between nook's and able sister's, and one outside my house. It got really annoying not warping to the place I wanted to go, so now I only use two between my main room and resident services. My house and resident services are on opposite sides of the island with my shops somewhere halfway through, so it would be really nice if there was a way to direct my pipe traffic to the right areas.

I didn't realize you could place more than two and they'd randomly send you to whichever one, I just thought it wouldn't work for some reason! I agree, it'd be nice to be able to color code them. Still, I'll be placing a third after reading this thread, lol.
