Is it possible for someone to adopt a villager from MY campsite?

I'm sure this question has been asked 83712124x, but I still never got a concrete answer on this. Some say yes, no and rare, so I'm really confused, but I would still like to confirm.

Is it possible for someone to adopt a villager from MY campsite?
I have 10 villagers right now and I want to adopt one of the villagers from my campsite, so yeah :C

Nah. Won't work. Although I I have heard of rumors saying that there is a chance of doing it,but just rare. But its probably a myth or a lie.

No it is not possible unfortunately!
Other people can't adopt villagers from your campsite. :c </3

I have attempted this rumor before to see if I could provide some concrete evidence saying that it is possible (using screenshots and what-not), and after 5 different attempts, I can assuredly say that it is not possible. Super sadface.
