Is it a good idea to have a fourth character?

I've been thinking about having a fourth character to complete my theme and I have some great ideas to decorate his house. However I'm a little hesitant to make a fourth alt. character because of plot resetting (I have all the villagers I want, but I'm afraid in the event they move out and I need to plot reset again). I was wondering if anybody can give me their opinion on this one whether it's a good idea or not.

Yeah, more QR Patterns and 180 more storage spaces.

But then it stops you from being able to plot reset...I'm planning on creating the last fourth character in my second town after I get all of my villager plots sorted.

Its best if you have all your dreamies (If you have any) to make a 4th character. If not then you'll suffer the consequences. (If you have paths or important areas) D:

The extra storage, ability to get limited items to sell if needed and a house to hold sets if you're like me and can't make decisions are just a few good points. Like others said if you're not set with your villagers don't give up that option.

I start every day with a new character before loading my mayor. It's good for: making sure there are no unexpected plots, check the campsite, and most importantly, looking to see if anyone will be in boxes and ready to move that day.

Oh, goodness yes! If you need space and patterns as some others have said it is almost a necessity to have a fourth character at some point.

I'm working hard on my town and already have 4 characters for those very reasons. Also, I need their house space for stuff and yeah...I hoard. :(

Pros ans cons for a 4th character

-more QR space
-more inventory space
-good for story towns

cons:
-less space in your town
-cannot check for new villager plots
-more money spent on getting perfect homes (optional)

I've had a 4th since the beginning, and have always made 4 characters

tbh I don't care about plot/campsite resetting, so the extra storage/decoration space more than makes it worth it to me

also, for this game I've been using my 4th character as the shopkeep

So far I just have my mayor. I've been considering two more characters for cool themed houses but I am not sure what I would do with a fourth character.

There's no right or wrong answer for this one.

If you have the space in town, don't need to plot reset, and want more pattern/storage space, go for it.

I certainly plan on it. Don't worry about villagers moving if you can be really dedicated to keeping up with them, or if you're willing to do that TT thing that'll keep them from moving after you haven't played for a long time.

A fourth character would definitely be good if you're wanting more storage space & pattern space!

I really want a fourth character myself, but as you've said, you won't be able to plot-reset if needed if you do create one, so I would say it's completely up to you on what you're needing them most for. I'm going to wait until I have all the villagers I'm wanting in my town before creating my final character.

I'd love to get a four character and have more patterns, but I only want 8 permanent villager so I can meet new faces from time to time, and I like to plot reset, so I decided not to make a 4th character. I also don't have anywhere in my town for another character house either now I come to think of it, lol. It's worth it in the long run for me, it works for what I want to do with my town. Like others have said, if you're not dead set on your villagers, then perhaps keep the slot open for plot resetting :)

I currently have two characters. It is fun to make more characters to decorate more houses, but I feel like I never play as my alt and I always get bed head lol. I like how my town is layed out now and I'm not sure if I want to stick another house somewhere. If you play a lot it is fun to have multiple characters. I have shared the other Animal Crossing games with my brother, so I have always had 2 villagers. I like playing as a boy and a girl to wear the different outfits and see gender specific dialog. I may make a 3rd villager, but I like having at least one free for plot resetting or else my fruit orchard would be toast.

Another advantage of having an open spot is that it makes going on hiatus so much easier, because when you come back, you can check if all your villagers are still there before starting your game. When you don't have a 4th character, if you went away unexpectedly and didn't deny a request to move on your last day, all you can do is go back to the day you last played and go through the whole process of getting someone to ping.

However, if none of the advantages of having room for a new character are that important to you (and most of them, other than checking to see if anyone's missing, probably don't matter to someone with a full set of 10 villagers), then you should do it. It's more room for items and patterns, another house you can decorate, and it helps complete your theme.

If you want to complete your theme but don't want to start a new character, maybe you can delete or change one of the existing ones. :) I wanted a fourth character too until I found a way to combine one of my existing ones with that fourth character's theme.

I honestly like just having my 2 characters. My second character is only really for decoration, as I'm working on making her house look like a little cafe/shop, and obviously my Mayor is the character I spend the most time playing on. I think I would only get more characters if I needed them for anything, or wanted to make more model homes.
