Like I've known people who said it was basically something Square did to please fans cause.. Tidus kinda went back to nonexistence so it would be impossible for him to come back especially since the Fayth moved to Farplane and all that jazz. I'm not sure myself though. Give me your opinions :3.
Yes. It's totally filled with fan service, but it's still canon.
If I remember correctly, one of the fayth says something about making 'a new place' for Tidus, which I assume is where he would go after they defeated Sin and he 'disappears'. He's even seen at the end of X (after the fayth have 'gone away') swimming or something in what I assume is this 'new place', so he still 'exists' at the end of X.
A lot of/pretty much all of the arguments to why X-2 isn't canon pretty much ignore the fact that he was shown to still 'exist' at the very end of X.
With it (X-2) having multiple endings, it would be safe to assume that only one of those endings was canon though. In fact, there's a 'part 3' of Final Fantasy X released as a novel or graphic novel (it was a book of some sort), so only one of X-2's endings were canon.

Pretty sure it was a drama CD since Square swears by them.
OP, if you're thirsty for information I'd suggest reading the FF wiki. It might clear up some questions considering most of the information from director QA's are directly referenced, translated, and sourced from the Ultimanias. I've never played X-2 myself considering I enjoy story over gameplay, but even the smallest link in the Final Fantasy series is something to hang on to as far as making a sequel goes.
Probably. I just read an overview of what happens in it. I didn't do much more than that for reasons I can't remember (I probably just couldn't find the whole thing and gave up looking).
