I've never thought of it as a name in the first place tbh. I voted it as a guy name though because I've only ever seen it used as a male name.

Ive met anyone with that name in the 10 different schools i went to in my life.
I'll say male though, because of this male character in a game who has that name.

It is a gender neutral name. Male or female, names are names. My daughter's name is Hunter and it's a name we gave her to denote strength. Is it primarily a male name? Yes. My name is Dorian. I am female, but most Dorian's are male. Regardless of whether you are male or female, Dakota is a beautiful name :)

I think it leans more towards female, but I only say that because I've never known anybody in person named Dakota. The only person I know who is named Dakota is the actress Dakota Fanning.

I kind of agree with the person who said it sounds like a dogs name. But I'm from England so that name would really standout here more so than America or somewhere.
Anyway, I'd think it's more of a girls name, just because I've only ever seen girls with that name on tv (never met an actual Dakota)

I don't see either; it's a unisex name for me.
I've heard of both male and female Dakotas, and the name itself doesn't really give me a straight 'male' or straight 'female' feeling or sound like most names. I'm not voting because of this.

When i think of the name Dakota, i think of males, but i guess thats just because i know more male Dakotas. But i think Dakota is definitely a unisex name. Dakota Johnson, Dakota Meyer, Dakota Fanning, so many female Dakotas as well as male Dakotas...
