Is anyone else really disappointed with the hourly music?

it all just... sounds the same? in older games each hourly song felt unique but in new horizons it's just "do you like guitar?????"
i wish we could have a choice of hourly music from past games. i know it's very wishful thinking but maybe it'll be a feature one day.
honestly i'd pay real money to have old hourly music. u__u​

Honestly, I only like 2-3 songs in New Horizons; I'm not a huge fan either. I was disappointed with the music in this game, despite how clear and nice all the instruments sound. To combat it, I have music players scattered about the island to play some KK tunes I really like lol. I think Wild World had my favorite music!

all the new horizons songs sound so similar to me. ;; i think the gamecube version had my favorite music but it was also my first ac game so i have a soft spot for it lol. i also adore the new leaf music!!

i hope one day we can have old hourly music tbh. ​

New Leaf had some of my favorite hourly music so I knew it would be hard to top that.
I like some of the music but it's a little vanilla to me with not much variation as you said.
It doesn't bother me though and I think I'm pretty used to it by now.

that's fair!! yah i'm used to it, i just miss the feeling of hearing a song i like and being like "oh yay!!" ;;

The hourly music does sound the same as it uses the same base of the main theme, nl did this as well, but it and all previous titles at least sounded different and I could tell the hour of the day, I find myself getting the hours wrong or mixed up in this installment... I only like a few of them (12pm, 6pm, 10pm, 5am,11am) but I find myself muting the audio in this...

you right. ;o; i looooved the new leaf music. i really adore the music from the gamecube version, nothing can compare to playing at 2am and that banger comes on and you feel like you can stay up for several more hours.

I only played NL before this and the music didn't bother me in that game. In this game it does.

You see I have an auditory processing disorder. So if there's a lot of distracting noises it's difficult for me to think clearly.

The afternoon music drives me insane! The upbeaty sounding one. It actually causes me to sometimes get a headache. So unfortunately I've got the volume turned way down low. Shame because I love the sound effects.

I often TT to early morning and after 7PM just so I don't have to deal with the music in the afternoon.

okay but saaaaaame. a dlc for music from the GameCube version, WW, and NL. i would buy all 3 in a heartbeat.

i hope they have an item like in pkmn heartgold/soulsilver where you have the option to listen to the old versions of the songs or the new ones ;;

New Horizons' hourly music is so... bland and lifeless. Other than a choice few songs they all run together and fail to stand out. It wants so badly to give off that relaxed vibe with a mix of plucky beats and that tropical island ambiance but instead it just comes off as samey and boring, sometimes even annoying. I personally am not a fan of the fan-favorite 5PM, the way it honks and squeaks just ruins any merit the drums and bass have. People claim so hard that is slaps and I'm just like... are we listening to the same song? It grates on my ears like crazy.

6PM I feel is the best hourly song, the accordion is so distinctly Animal Crossing, it is a truly relaxing and pleasant tune in a sea of uninteresting, irritating noise.

I don't think all Animal Crossing songs need to be moody or nostalgic, but it needs to have character. I wanna feel a way, whether I feel chill, happy, energized, just... anything, please. The GCN soundtrack and New Leaf's soundtrack are my personal favorites because it feels like there's a clear vision there.

i agree entirely. new horizon's music is lifeless, i think that's such a good way to describe it? new leaf and GC's music had so much personality in every song. it felt like every hour was something special? if that makes sense.
i just want to have old hourly music. ;~; i miss it sm.​

an idea I had was to add headphones as a nook miles exchange item. if you wore them, then you could choose the music you hear outside, from past hourly music to kk songs. probably won't be added but who knows!

My favorite themes are 6 pm and 5 am. And I am never early enough for 5 am so I never hear it. don't like the rest

I actually appreciate the variations on the theme. At least, it's an interesting choice that does tie the hours together. It does get repetitive listening to it all the time, but for the most part, I like it. Some tracks are far superior to others.

After starting a second island, I do realize I actually miss the pre-updated Residential Services music. I think I just enjoyed the laid back feel of the prologue in general.

As big as New Horizons is about customization, I'm surprised there isn't an option to set music as we want it. Imagine a horror island with K.K. Dirge playing. That would give off a completely different vibe than say 8pm's hourly track would.

I’m not a fan of the music. I have ACGC, WW and New Leaf tunes on my playlist and listen to them regularly when I’m in a relaxing mood. I can’t see myself doing that for New Horizons... it’s just overall too funky and uninteresting.

Oh how I miss the beautiful rain music from ACGC.

Yes... There are some good songs here and there (and most play when I'm not up), but New Horizons is so...samey. A lot of the songs have the same guitar (mostly), synth, drums, and even tempo! I can sometimes tell them apart but it would've been better if it had the variety of past games. TheBitBlock does a good job talking about the hourly soundtrack, but he has different favorites than I have. (He implied 9AM isn't that good!)

I would love that. Plus, if it allowed playing any of New Horizons's 24 hourly songs on a loop, that'd be good. (But not as good as being able to choose previous game soundtracks...like New Leaf's 5PM!) With that, I'd be able to hear early morning songs like 7-9AM without any kind of time travelling...or waking up early. Still, another good option would be the ability to turn down or off the hourly music for those that want to play music outside of the game instead.
