I spent so much time getting all my dreamies in New Leaf. And once I got them I was so afraid of losing them, it was borderline stressful playing!

This time I think I will be more loose with the game. I’m gonna check out the campsite and go to the island, but I won’t be so die hard about getting certain villagers. I’ve made up my mind, no auction or buying.

No judgment on anyone else, everyone should do what makes them happy. But I need to take some pressure off of myself, ha ha! Anyone else feel the same way?

In New Horizons, villagers don't move unless you give them permission so it's less stress than New Leaf was when it comes to maintaining dream villagers. There would be periods of time where I would dread turning New Leaf on after a break because I'd be dreading seeing that one of my babies moved out. And with no 16 villager cycle in New Horizons and being able to pick villagers back up immediately, I'm content with having a town full of dreamies. I personally fought really hard for most of my villagers and took stupid Nook tours until my brain nearly melted so I'm definitely keeping them all around unless I decide to switch things up a bit later on and let one or two of them go.

I love that in this game villagers can't move on their own anymore. So a lot of stress has been removed! Can't imagine how horrible it must feel for people who buy their dreamies for big prices only for the dreamie to move away on its own.

Now regarding your question, I will keep letting villagers move out until I found ones that I like. :D So far I have found Cheddar, Nibbles and Admiral that I really like. For the rest I will let them go until I found someone that I personally like.

I said i was going to let villagers move in and out as they please and not have a dead set list of dreamies but all my friends and even people i've just interacted with once keep throwing their less than attractive reject villagers at me I don't even have a chance to let randoms move in. plus ya girl's got a theme to keep. So i'm sticking loosely to a theme but not picking 10 specific villagers but ones that come up that I have access to.

Yeah, as nice as it is to have 10 of your favorite villagers, I thought it would be refreshing to do it a little differently this time. I'm not buying any villagers and for the most part letting them move whenever they ask. So far I have one or two villagers I enjoy, Cranston and Flo. If they ask to move I'll probably have them stay for a while but if I find someone I like more then it's possible that I'd let them move out too.

I think I’m taking an in-between approach.

I’m slowly building up a set of Islanders I’ll be keeping, but not in a rush to get them. I also don’t know exactly who I’d want, and am open to new villagers along the way.

There’s no reason for me to grab ahold of 10 favorites from the start. In fact, I’d rather take my time and experience several before settling.

For me, I quite like the feeling of anticipating what villager will move in or which villager I'll meet from Nook Miles Island. So far, I'm letting villagers move in naturally. I haven't met a single of my dreamies (Jambette where are you) yet but at the same time, I find myself to start really liking villagers that I previously didn't care for.

Over time, I'll at least want to get the picture of the villagers I like before letting them leave. Hopefully, I'll eventually gather a good group of 10 (mix between dreamies and random villagers) that I'll keep forever.

The game is about relaxation and taking your time and I don't feel the need to find 10 'perfect' villagers so soon into the game.

Actually now is the game where I can be stress free when it comes to dreamies due to them not randomly moving out it’s great

I recently did a similar post to this, I've decided not to bother with dreamies and just play whoever comes and goes.

oh yes, i have punchy but others, i'll plan on moving them out after a while... if i try to get all my dreamies it would look too much like my new leaf town lol

mind you, i already started with 2 villagers that were from my acnl town haha

I never got into the 'dream villager' hype in New Leaf, and I don't plan to in New Horizons either.

Of my current villagers I can see myself holding onto three for a while: Goose, Wolfgang, and Sherb. Don't ask me how long 'a while' is though. It could be a few weeks, a few months, a few years, or forever.

I think I went a little crazy trying to get the new villagers, but now that I got Raymond I feel like I can take a breath and enjoy the game.

I think about half of the villagers I have now are staying, but the others will most likely be allowed to leave once I get their pictures.

So many of the the renderings in this game are beautiful that I am finding myself liking villagers I used to never like.

i have "dreamies" but i don't really want them all on my island - for me, it's more like a list of my favourite villagers, and if i come across them eventually, great! i have blanche right now, and she's the only one i think i want to keep for a long time.

I have some favorite villagers, like Muffy and Alice, I would love to have in my village, and if they wanted to move out, I probably wouldn't let them. BUT at the same time, I have hundreds of villagers whom I never interacted with, hundreds of possible new favorites, so I'm considering the cycling route, villagers coming and going, forging connections with new ones.

Perhaps my preference for landscaping and home decorating rather than villager relationships will help me keep villagers coming and going, though as I say that, I still would likely have a hard time letting Muffy go when the situation comes up.

I wanted to start fresh with NH which for me means all new villagers. No villagers from NL towns. I have villagers I would’ve never considered before. And while they may not be the most sought after I have no intention I getting rid of them.

I've traded for one villager, Alfonso, because he's my absolute favourite and he only cost 15k bells :P

For the rest I'm just seeing who comes and goes; the serendipity of villagers is one of the things I love about the game so I'm not going to spoil it by collecting a set list of them. And some villagers end up surprising you with their charm (like Alfonso did when I met him in New Leaf!).

I scanned in the amiibos of a few that have sentimental value to me; Bob, Zucker and Rosie. Reneigh and Bunnie were given to me, and apart from that, my villagers were semi-random.

Genji was a starter, Raymond came from my campsite, and Kiki, Whitney and Wolfgang came from mystery islands (wasn’t hunting for them).
