I've been looking for Marshal or Raymond for a while (yeah i know typical), but every auction or trade has been ridiculously high. I'm not trying to complain about how much they cost, yeah they're worth a lot, I just feel exhausted from going on so many different forms, sites, discord chats, to find these characters only to lose them for 100+ tickets. I've put in over 150+ hours into the game and I have about 80,000 nook miles. I'm sure a lot of people who are inflating the prices for these characters are just buying the tickets online and stuff, but I just personally feel so burned out trying to keep up.. Does anyone else feel this way?

Yeah, dupers utterly destroyed the market and there are still exploiters getting rich off other people. Just best to forget about online trading for a bit until things die down

Well not me, because I never buy stuff from other people. :) I just play the game by myself and grind to get what I have. I guess I don't miss buying characters or other items from other players, because I have never done it. I am not at all exhausted or burned out; having lots of fun every day with this game!

I would honestly just recommend to stop trying to keep up. Marshal has always been ridiculously high and since Raymond is new and doesn’t have an amiibo you can forget about getting him at a decent price unless you get lucky and come across someone who is super nice. Just enjoy the game for what it is and just allow villagers to come and go. They’ll show up eventually.

Yeah I've seen so many Marshal or Raymond auctions that START at 100 NMTs, I even saw one that asked for 1000 NMTs. Like I'm sorry but that is so impossible for people who refuse to spend real life money on buying duped NMTs. I just don't know how to keep up anymore and am feeling so overwhelmed. I just feel so disconnected from the community and it makes me sad.

That's fine for you, but I personally like to buy/trade with other people in the community. We all help each other out and benefit from it.

Yeah I agree. I do enjoy the game when I play by myself. It's when I start interacting with the community is when it starts to feel overwhelming with all of the inflated prices I guess

It's alright, those people are just greedy and don't represent the whole community. I'll let you know if I ever find either marshal or Raymond and I'll give you them for free. (Although I'm unsure itd be possible for me to find them in the first place lol)

Haha thanks for the offer. It's good to know there are still people out there in the community who are still trying to help each other out. I'm still going to try to do random island tours as well as try to find them in the community, but man it's hard.

I think the reason why Raymond is especially high is the fact that he's new, cute, doesn't have an amiibo yet, and super rare to get through NMT (literally 1 in a 1000 basically since cats have the most villagers in the species, and the game rolls species first). All these factors combined with FOMO (fear of missing out) where some might just want Raymond to show people that they got the most popular villager leads to very very very high prices for him so there's a mad rush to get him before everyone else
A pessimist would say don't get your hopes up for him rn, at least until the market starts to settle down and people are feeling more generous. The game is still very new so things are in flux with a rush to get dreamies ASAP! Once an amiibo comes out for him, and people start to fill their islands with dreamies, I think the prices should drop and settle out

I could probably summon marshal via amibo but idk of the glitch is still there

I feel the same way, it's impossible for me to find my dreamies because they'll only sell for nook tickets, and usually 100-200 tickets. Who the heck has 200 tickets, thats like 400k miles >_< I have 110k and I've actively tried to earn miles all day everyday so I don't understand how people get these kinda tickets after only a few weeks of playing, sure maybe they buy them but they still go for 250k bells a ticket so its still a lot. Idk I feel like people are so greedy in new horizons trading compared to new leaf, but i guess its because there is a lot of new players

Yeah I agree. I can't complain about the demand being high, he is pretty special since he is new and there is no amiibo for him yet, it just feels so overwhelming to see all the prices for him. Makes me feel like I'm not putting in any effort into my game or something, which I know is completely wrong to feel that way.

Thanks for the offer! I don't want to bother you like that though, if you ever come across him and he happens to want to move out, I will gladly pay you!

Well it's possible to TT to get good Turnip prices and charge NMT for entry. Pretty easy when you get around 100-200 visitors

Isn't it fun to be a TTer haha

Yes! I actively try to get Nook Miles everyday and it just never feels like its enough. I just feel like the whole buying NMTs in real life really inflated the prices so much that it's become unattainable. Hopefully the community will try to correct itself with this problem by not trading with the greedy people and calling them out.

Wouldn't be any trouble although I believe the glitch is still there so I probably shouldn't even try lol I'll stay on the lookout for you!

Well I tt too, and btw if you tt it will decrease your turnip prices, i've never seen a better price than 110 because of this, but I understand what you mean

That's exactly why I've been selling stuff for NMTs and not bells. So I can try to stock pile as many NMTs on top of miles. Since it's pretty easy to get bells via turnips, NMTs has definitely become a commodity.

Not really. But then, Raymond doesn't really appeal to me--Audie, sure, but I'm letting villagers happen naturally this time instead of dreamy-hunting.

If we had region locked DLC like the afternoon tea set from New Leaf, that'd be one thing--I'd be really annoyed if I couldn't get one because of the economy. But we don't at this moment in time. So I feel pretty chill about waiting and letting the craziness settle. Meanwhile, I can...figure out what in the world to do with half my island! Lol.

Yeah I totally feel you! I too want Raymond eventually (he's an econ major, I'm an econ major, it's a perfect match), but I understand my chances are very low at the moment, so I'm just not going to even try right now. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, there are so many other cool villagers in this game I'd love to have, so no big deal for me, I'm not going to spend hours and hours and tickets and tickets looking for him! I'm going to spend my time enjoying my villagers and my island and not stressing over looking for a specific one right now. I might buy/adopt Caroline (that's my irl name) soon from someone, like maybe in about 3 or 4 villagers because she isn't very expensive at all, but I want to give other villagers a chance too! :)

It that a fact? I've never heard of a repercussions like that. Turnips don't even spoil from TTing anymore from what I heard

I play legit and I've never seen prices anywhere over 130 haha
