Is 3 normals too much?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma. When I was thinking about the villagers I wanted in my island I always had in mind 2 villagers, being molly and fauna, because they are my favourite normal, and have the rest all being different personalities. One week ago I adopted Melba and I love her. So now I have 3 normals. The problem is that I find them incredibly sweet and obviously absolutely adorable but in this particular game they tend to be quite boring with the dialogues...so I’m starting to think that maybe 3 is too much, but they are so cute

i've had merengue, marina, june, maple, pekoe, fauna and margie on my island and i'm constantly replacing them with another because normal villagers are so boring i struggle with just having 1 normal, for me 3 would be a nightmare

i got tia on my island this morning and i'm already done with her i'm thinking of just not having a normal villager because they all just bother me so much
merengue was truely the worst for me, i really didn't like her and she was only on my island for 2 weeks but it felt like forever

i really want to like them because most of them are so cute but i just can't

If you get 1 of each personality, there will be room in the end for 3 of the same personalities, so no, not really.

Oh gosh, I feel you! I found Merengue on one island the second day and I decided to invite her. Then I realized I hated her design and her dialogues and as soon as she asked to leave I was more than happy to let her go. I had Gayle as well and she was alright, still very plain, but maybe a bit more interesting. I didn’t really like her appearance tho. The thing that broke my heart was realizing I almost couldn’t stand Fauna and she has been in every town I had since WW. She is still my favourite but oh gosh, that’s just because it’s nostalgic!

I came to the conclusion they can totally stay.

Though if it bothers you, you should evict the one you don't exactly like. Having more variety is good!

ah, i have 3 normals as well (fauna lolly and nana)! i personally like them, but before i had merengue and marina which was 5 and that's too much. i only have 4 females, the other one is maddie and she's a peppy villager. i was really hoping to get a snooty villaer but i ran into serb and had to take him

Depends on the person actually, if them being cute is not enough for you and just find them really really boring and bland then I suggest you find a personality that you would be happy to have multiples of.

The repetitive dialogue would bother me too much. But ugh, there are so many cute looking normal villagers, I get the struggle!

I’m still questioning myself cause I have all the personality except for snooty. I had Diana for a couple of weeks but then she decided to move and I let her go cause I was kinda over her. Now I’m stuck with 2 lazy, Bob and stitches(I can’t wait to kick him out cause I have the same problems with lazy in NH, they are boring) and 2 amigos.

It really depends on you. There could be somebody on the forum who hates normals. For them, one is too much and they only put up with them for villager variety. There could be another who loves normals so much that they decided to have 10 of them.

I normally try to keep one to two personalities that I really like on the island. I had three preppys in NL and as much as I love preppy villagers, it was almost too much.

i ask myself this question so often! i only have one normal right now but i would say, there are way too many cute normals >< i'm going to end up inviting lolly because i had her in my new leaf town, and i've always wanted daisy in nl. almost ended up inviting gladys from the campsite too - when will the cuteness end. sigh

i heard that there are some slight variants to each personality, so perhaps some of your normals are different? i know for sure i'll at least have two haha

I guess it really depends on how much you value talking to your villagers compared to how they look. I personally don't mind having a bunch of the same personally because I like their character design and don't mind repetitive dialogue.

if the dialogue matters to you, i would let 1-2 of them move out. while they are certainly adorable, if you value dialogue more than appearance, i would stick with just 1 or 2 normals ;u;

You should do what you wanna do! I think having a snooty could benefit you because you'd be able to get all reactions. I'm missing a Lazy villager but I'm not in a hurry to get it. Most villagers are tradable with very affordable price minus the new villagers so...yeah!

Well, I was gonna say that if you want all personalities then you can have 3 of the same as long as you don't have any other dupes, so 3 normals might be fine if you like them and really want them... but if you're bored by the normals in the first place then I think you answered your own question I still like them myself but I do wish they would talk about Moppina again!

I freakin' FEEL this! Most of my favorite villagers are Normal... and I'm not loving how they're kinda toned down and dull in this version? I also have 3 of them right now so maybe that's why I'm getting sick of them... To be fair I have Ava and I don't even like her all that much. But it's making me not find Sydney and even Margie that cute anymore Would rather have Merengue.

Also wdym slight variants? Like there are subtypes to each personality...?

Honestly if I had it my way, I'd only have a village of cute girls and the occasional lazy and MARSHAL. But it'd be boring...

I feel like they really downgraded normal, lazy and even snooty(they don’t sound snooty at all, I remember in WW how much I hated at the beginning all the snooty villager and then end up loving them after a while). Normals only talk about how you have been excavating fossils the day before and how nice is to walk outside, lazies only talk about bugs whispering to them and snooty are too nice. Even cranky don’t sound like cranky honestly. They feel like old men! I don’t know, maybe it’s not the villagers but the dialogues. I even tried switching to my second language but the conversations are even worse.
