Interior decoration: Full series? Themes?

i used to do full series rooms but i realized if you want to make rooms look REALLY amazing there's just no way to do full series so now i mix and match to make some really gorgeous themed rooms. i try to make all my rooms have a common theme in a house. the only time i'd do a full series is for non-reorderable sets like creepy, pirate, mush, snowman and ski set....stuff like that, but i'll add other items from other sets in there to make it a nice room

I kinda want to just jam my house full of themed sets to get the awards and THEN work on making a nice looking house.
I prefer to mix and match.

I'm torn up about this because my house is finally looking how I want it and I only have like 50,000 points orz ;;

I like to mix and match, using only the pieces from series that I really like. And I love customizing! It's always great to visit a town, or streetpass someone who has a unique decorating style, instead of just matching everything.

But early in the game when I was trying for some HHA milestones, I went for full series. It was really boring, actually.
