I'm highly curious to know about how the plans (if any) have changed for everyone's towns over time!
I'm wondering about anything and everything! How many times did you start and scrap a town because the map didn't work for you anymore? Did you have dreamies that aren't priorities to have in your town anymore? A color scheme that developed? PWPs that you had and demolished or PWPs you didn't want before that you have now? Ideas for your home? Whatever.
Me personally:
At first I didn't realize just how amazing you could get your town to look, but once I got the dream suite in my first town and visited a few of them, I noticed that mine was lacking, that the houses were scattered about, and that there were quite a few narrow strips of land I couldn't really do anything with. I was going to try to work around it, but then Tutu literally moved right in front of my mayor's house and after doing everything possible to get rid of Tutu, I reset my town.
I cared about the layout and reset a numerous amount of times before settling on one I liked. Originally I thought I would only use white, black, and pink roses, but since I have added pink carnations, gold roses, and jacob's ladders into my landscaping. I had found a path that matches the cobblestone in front of the station, in the plaza, in front of re-tail, etc., but I found it so boring over time and found a pastel brick one instead. Because my town name was Sweets, I wanted to do each mule's house in a ginger bread theme, but opted out of it and have since made the homes match what the interior is. I don't really have a town theme anymore (aside from the color scheme), though there's an obviously girly, fairy tale vibe going on throughout. PWPs weren't really a priority, but now I have one away from the maximum of demolish-ables you can have in your town and am saving the last spot for a fire pit I need Genji to request for my campsite area.
I don't have any of my original dreamies either! Originally I had wanted Tia, Merengue, Kabuki, Stitches, Beau, Pekoe, Cookie, Flurry, Julian, and Mint.
I realized how unbalanced that group would have been and currently have Freya, Marshal, Shari, Marina, Zucker, Coco, Genji, Muffy, Tutu (lol, the once bane of my acnl existence), and Hamphrey and I don't feel as though I have settled. I feel like I have the perfect villagers and love all of them. I plan on keeping them as long as I am playing the game.
I never really had a clear vision for my town per se, but nearly all of the vague ideas I had once have been scratched and are developing into what my town is today, which is one that I am slowly being very proud of creating. I still feel like it's lacking a lot of whimsy, particularly compared to some of the Dream Addresses I visited and fell in love with, and I think that has to do a lot with my inability to not allow things to be "perfect" (I have a hard time placing things ~randomly~ and feeling like they look good), so my town can feel stiff at times. But it's looking better than I had pictured any town looking before I visited DAs, lol! So that's good!
TLDR: Have you stuck closely with the plans you had for your town upon purchasing the game; has it changed drastically; or have you just went with the flow of things, never really having a concrete set of plans?
