I'm highly curious to know about how the plans (if any) have changed for everyone's towns over time!

I'm wondering about anything and everything! How many times did you start and scrap a town because the map didn't work for you anymore? Did you have dreamies that aren't priorities to have in your town anymore? A color scheme that developed? PWPs that you had and demolished or PWPs you didn't want before that you have now? Ideas for your home? Whatever.

Me personally:

At first I didn't realize just how amazing you could get your town to look, but once I got the dream suite in my first town and visited a few of them, I noticed that mine was lacking, that the houses were scattered about, and that there were quite a few narrow strips of land I couldn't really do anything with. I was going to try to work around it, but then Tutu literally moved right in front of my mayor's house and after doing everything possible to get rid of Tutu, I reset my town.

I cared about the layout and reset a numerous amount of times before settling on one I liked. Originally I thought I would only use white, black, and pink roses, but since I have added pink carnations, gold roses, and jacob's ladders into my landscaping. I had found a path that matches the cobblestone in front of the station, in the plaza, in front of re-tail, etc., but I found it so boring over time and found a pastel brick one instead. Because my town name was Sweets, I wanted to do each mule's house in a ginger bread theme, but opted out of it and have since made the homes match what the interior is. I don't really have a town theme anymore (aside from the color scheme), though there's an obviously girly, fairy tale vibe going on throughout. PWPs weren't really a priority, but now I have one away from the maximum of demolish-ables you can have in your town and am saving the last spot for a fire pit I need Genji to request for my campsite area.

I don't have any of my original dreamies either! Originally I had wanted Tia, Merengue, Kabuki, Stitches, Beau, Pekoe, Cookie, Flurry, Julian, and Mint.
I realized how unbalanced that group would have been and currently have Freya, Marshal, Shari, Marina, Zucker, Coco, Genji, Muffy, Tutu (lol, the once bane of my acnl existence), and Hamphrey and I don't feel as though I have settled. I feel like I have the perfect villagers and love all of them. I plan on keeping them as long as I am playing the game.

I never really had a clear vision for my town per se, but nearly all of the vague ideas I had once have been scratched and are developing into what my town is today, which is one that I am slowly being very proud of creating. I still feel like it's lacking a lot of whimsy, particularly compared to some of the Dream Addresses I visited and fell in love with, and I think that has to do a lot with my inability to not allow things to be "perfect" (I have a hard time placing things ~randomly~ and feeling like they look good), so my town can feel stiff at times. But it's looking better than I had pictured any town looking before I visited DAs, lol! So that's good!

TLDR: Have you stuck closely with the plans you had for your town upon purchasing the game; has it changed drastically; or have you just went with the flow of things, never really having a concrete set of plans?

My plans have changed a little bit. I know the theme and how I want everything in my town to look, but imagining it is so much different than seeing it in real life!
I've had my town for over a month now, and it has improved drastically, more than any of my other towns despite how much longer I had them. Other towns I've had for three months have come nowhere near to the point where I am now, and I have to admit, I can't take all the credit. Without the people of this forum, I would be stuck in a ditch, honestly! I'm actually seeing what I want to see- though my town is still nowhere near complete. I still have lots of work to do; I have to get my dreamies, the correct hybrids, villagers to move out, etc. Then there's housework too- having to complete sets, dealing with trades and other requests, and so much more. But I find what others might think of as chores so much fun to do! The fact that I can improve quickly and simply, along with dealing with trades here, is definitely something I can be proud of. :) My town has come such a long way since I started it, and that's why I think it is a for sure favorite out of all the towns I've ever had. I'm moving at a much faster pace, but I like working at a quick speed and making sure to take the time to enjoy it too.
Basically, my plans haven't changed too much, and I am very pleased with how my town is coming along so far. :)

I really haven't done anything recently, nearly all of my bushes are down, my path way is fine and i have removed all flowers i spammed my town with in the first few months. I only want roses normal and hybrids.

The more I work on my town, the more I hate it if I'm honest! I hope others are having better luck than me!

i definitely go with the flow of things, but my town is still a baby yet. i try to think big picture though and know where i would like certain PWPs. with villagers, i don't have a dreamy list or anything like that (though i certainly am picky) so it's more like who shows up that i think would be fun to have in my town. the stagnant/slow paced nature of not time traveling is a factor in my ~flow~ because i can only purchase one cedar sapling a day (if that) and i don't have an upgrade to leif's store for bushes yet.

for my alternate charas, i never envisioned using them save for implementing rooms that i couldn't fit into my house, but now i have a concrete idea of what i want their houses to be / how they tie together. (i wouldn't really call it a theme, in the future if i show it off, people may understand why).

things like paths are envisioned the more i walk around town and the more things develop. happy to say that my town's coming together after ~ a month or so of playing. lotta grass wear though. /scrunchesupface.

I've never really had a vision as far as layouts go. ^.^' For villagers, I was originally going to keep my first ten: Gladys, Lobo, Puddles, Cousteau, Boomer, Queenie, Hazel, Lionel, Rodeo, and Pierce. I ended up keeping seven. My first dreamies were Tom, Willow, Lopez, Phoebe, and Poppy. The only one who got into my town was Lopez. I am hoping to get Willow and Phoebe in Floralia, though!

My town at first was basically just filled with random PWP's (that I did place carefully in nice places), paths & flowers that were basically all placed in sets of two colours (red & white flower patch for example). I didn't exactly know where I was going with my town, but it looked pretty nice to me so I just continued on with it.

At first, I LOVED the layout of my town: the river going right through the middle; giving me the perfect spot to place a caf? & quite a decent amount of space to lay things out spaciously. That was up until a few months ago when I realised I was growing less & less attached to my town layout. Honestly, I was SO CLOSE to resetting my entire town.

Nothing I done would make me like my town. Absolutely nothing. After contemplating about it for a short while, I decided not to reset my entire town as I didn't want to lose everything that I had achieved so far (house expansions, badges, fish & bug collection etc. etc.) & the two Dreamies that had recently moved into my town (Marina & Beau). My main reason for thinking so little of my town was probably due to me visiting amazing towns via the Dream Suite & thinking that my town paled in comparison to theirs.

Instead of completely demolishing my town & all the hard work I had put into it until then, I just decided to remove all my paths, flowers, PWP's & most of my trees that I had placed previously & start landscaping my town afresh. Ever since then, I've felt so much better about my town. I have used a little bit of landscaping inspiration that I have gained from visiting other towns now & just by gaining that little bit more, it's made me enjoy running around my town A LOT more.

I actually have a main theme in my town now (pink flowers only/Fairy-Tale-ish theme) which I can be happy with settling with, & I have been able to fill up most of my town with landscaping ideas which I couldn't do before.

Of course I still feel like my town is no where near the level of some of the Dream Towns I've visited, but it's actually become a town I can feel even that little bit proud of.

some things i originally planned had to be cut due to land/PWP limit :c
but most plans did make it and it makes me excited. i took a lot of WIP pics and it's cute going through them and seeing the progress. makes it feel like all that effort i put in it was worth it :>

I made a Snow white character, and made her house look like the 7 dwarves cottage. So, I thought it would be really cool to make my mayor be the evil step mother. The house just wasn't working for me.I thought the basement would look cool, but it didn't.I took that giant green face pattern from the dream town called LSD, and put it on the wall.It was supposed the be the mirror on the wall.It looked so funny.I redid the whole house, and made it a witches home.Little by little it turned into a Halloween witches house.lol.I really wish I had pictures of the basement before I changed it , though.

originally it was going to be a pink cute town but now its becoming and earthy/foresty/zen type of town

Originally, I wanted it to have a modern sort of feel to it, but- now I'm sort of leaning towards a desert/rustic town, I guess.

I don't know. I'll get it turned around eventually.

at first I planned to have a cutesy kinda town and decided when they were available that I was going to opt for the fairytale pwps but I soon got super fed up with the cute path styles and ended up creating a town that fit the town name (wildwood) and now my town is full of cedar trees and I'm trying to get it to look like a forest with pathways through it etc.

oh wow pretty much the same as me haha

My plans are constantly evolving, even as I work on them.

I'm moving the playground that I made last year, which I started to re-build in one place but decided recently to put it somewhere else. I've moved my second character's house, and I'm thinking of doing it again, which would mean totally redoing everything in that area (as well as losing a few hundred thousand bells I spent expanding the rooms *sigh*). What was going to be a pond area became a grove. My paths have twisted and turned just about every which way.

And I've changed my path patterns about a dozen times, but I think now I've finally made a final decision.

I'm actually amazed at how much has come together, but still there are some places that I haven't started yet, and some places are probably less final than I think they are with the way things are going.

I initially had no plans for my town. I was just kind of letting it be, but now it's quite decorated and landscaped with paths and bushes and hybrids and all kinds of things.

First I wanted my town to have a Japanese theme, but then decided it would be better if it was more ecletic. My town is built around the main square, where there's the tower in the middle and 3 trees on both sides like a French boulevard ( I was inspired by some European countries I visited) (+ one fountain on the left and one flower clock on the other -like the one in Geneva :D). I plan to have two gardens (French-style ones) and I've just finishing the second one ( I knew I wanted to make them but I didn't know where until now). I also dreamed about having a windmill with black tulips ( because of the story La Tulipe Noire + The Netherlands). I had to change its location to build the second garden though. I also really wanted to have an Egyptian square ( finally have it!) in the huge land in front of my house. I'm still changing my town and idk how it will end up :)

Your town sounds really interesting, mind posting your dream address?

I wanted to make my town look like a small country village with lots of open space- I don't like towns where every space is filled with flowers or QR patterns, it feels claustrophobic to me. But as time goes on, more and more of my town has gotten filled up with hybrids and I love them all so I can't get rid of them.. I really wish the towns were bigger than they are.

I also realized recently that my town looks a lot better with natural paths instead of roads. I'm trying to use both so it looks like there's developed areas and country areas.

I've got a long way to go with Rosewood. I've added a few PWPs, enough to earn a perfect rating, and laid down paths in places I imagine will be nigh on permanent. Though looking at it now, I realize I'm probably going to redo a lot of that work again.

My plans have basically stayed the same. Red, white and pink modern town. Every once in a while I get a bunch of yellow flowers and that messes things up but oh well.
