Bells

I've been beetle hunting on the island for a while to quickly earn some bells so I can pay off my home loan and public Works projects but out if curiosity, in your opinion what's the fastest or best way to earn bells?

From my experience of playing the game... I would say that best/fastest way to earn bells is to have fruits that aren't native to your town be on premium in Re-tail and sell lots of full fruit baskets. Though... It is best to have an infinite fruit basket to get the best results for making more bells. I used to do beetle hunting on the island to get lots of bells to pay for things, but discovered another way for me to get more bells in the game. Wish I had known about that instead of constantly going to the island to make some bells.

The best way (unfortunately also the most tedious way) is beetle farming on the island after 9pm. I got millions and millions of bells through that. If you want to get rich quick and don't mind getting money from outside sources besides the game, I would sell some tbt for igb. I think 1 tbt = 200, 000 igb.

I earn most of my money through beetle farming on the island. It can get tedious at times, but I found it was the most consistent way to get bells. Even a quick (30 min) trip to the island can net me a couple hundred thousand.

Another way is to buy turnips from Joan and sell them for a profit, but there is risk involved in that. There's no guarantee Reese will even buy them for more than you paid for them, and if you do make a profit it might be small. But if you get lucky and hit a really good price from Reese you can make millions. Of course, that also depends on how many turnips you buy. They can take up a lot of storage space and tie up your money while you're waiting to sell.

If you can earn a lot of Meow coupons, trading them in for bells is pretty profitable. Scanning an Amiibo can get you 5 coupons each day. Then, there's the tasks you can complete daily and weekly. Each coupon is worth 3000 bells, so it adds up.

The island is the most reliable method. Go the island sometime after 7pm. To force higher priced beetles to spawn more, I would suggest cutting down all of the trees in the middle (keep the palm trees!), dig up the bushes, and get rid of the flowers. If you get efficient at it, you can get the island basket full of beetles and sharks in about 30 minutes. If you have the time, you could go back several times in one night to get more even.

Turnips aren't bad though. It's just annoying because they take up inventory space and you have to remember to monitor the prices. I generally only buy turnips from Joan if she's charging 100 bells or less per turnip. Try your best to look at the selling prices everyday, both the AM and PM time. There's some calculators out there that can suggest if you should sell or if you should hang onto them. Also, if your prices are bad (less than what you paid) and the calculators tell you that it will keep going down - then I suggest trying to find someone online who has a town that's has a better turnip price.

With the Turnip Method, a quick little suggestion:

Join a community discord server, or check the official turnip prices thread on here. Sometimes, community members get lucky and get a huge sale price (im talking 500+), so it's definately worth checking that out, if it's something you'd be interested in doing.

Best of luck! :)

If you mean only through in-game activities, then turnips no doubt. Just once you find a town where Reese is buying it like at 600, you can earn 10 mil in 30 mins.
Or, if this could include activities in this forum, then hunting somewhat rare "collectible" thing when there's a event, and selling them to someone who wants it. You'll get big tbt bells, then you can exchange it to in-game bells by bell trading. Current on going rate is 1 tbt = 200,000 in-game bells. Personally I'd rather work on turnips though.

An infinite fruit basket? I've never heard of that before
infinite fruit baskets are hacked baskets that lets you pull out as much fruit as you want from it
but you have to be careful with it because just by accidentally putting fruit in the hacked basket breaks it & you end up with a reg basket.
you can't buy it here because its against the rules but if you go to gamefaqs you might be able to nab yourself a free one there from one of those giveaway towns.

also! if you need bells then i'll be happy to help
i still have a buttload of bells from when i sold my town & im clearly not gonna use them all at once.

As what most people said, beetle hunting on the islands are the way to go. If conditions are optimal (assuming you got rid of bushes, flowers, trees but not counting the palm ones), you should be able to max out your basket within half an hour. On average, you could get 200k bells, even higher with the wealthy bell ordinance.

But if you don't want to take that path, you could make a perfect fruit tree orchard to farm for bells.

I used to buy turnips and look online and find a town with a high price. I made millions! The island Beatles are also a good way. I’ve also collected up a lot of perfect fruit and sold them at a town without that native perfect fruit.

I forgot to mention that storing ores then selling it when it's on premium also supports your way to farm bells! I've been actually doing this in all of my towns.

Beetle hunting is the easiest and quickest way to earn bells yourself, as boring and tedious as it gets.

Buying and selling turnips works, too, but you'll almost definitely need help from people online.

You can also buy bells from people for BTB on Re-Tail, which is the easiest and quickest way in general, but doesn't feel as honest to me.

I just had the weirdest experience getting bells. I went to the North American Island and there was a guy there laying bells down all over the island. He asked me not to pick any up until he was done, so I waited. He covered the entire island, told me to enjoy the bells and then left. By the time I picked them all up, I had gotten over 20 million bells. I haven't been playing very long, but I've never had that happen before. Do people do that often? Why would someone give away all those bells? It was crazy, but I enjoyed it. It would take me forever to earn that many bells just collecting bugs.

From my experience, it would be better hunting. I chopped down all the interior trees on the island, leaving just palm trees all the way around. If you start early enough before Re-Tail closes, you can get close to a million in a night.

What kind of beetles In the island?

Any of the beetles that appear on the palm trees after about 6-7pm are worth several thousand a piece: golden stag, horned hercules, horned elephant, horned atlas, cyclommatus stag, goliath beetle.

If you leave the trees in the middle of the island, a few expensive beetles spawn there: rainbow stag, giant stag, and scarab beetle.

Fastest is turnips.

Not everyone has more than one town to set up one town put on hold for Reese to buy Turnips at, say, 500+bells each.

Another good method is if you reset a long-established town. Especially if that town gets sold to Tom Nook for at least 40,000,000 bells. After you accept a new town, if you taken a lump-sum payment, secondary humans get something like 15 percent to start. That amounts to 6,000,000 bells for a given secondary human. (You can established a third and fourth human and see that character start off with that much.) You can use that secondary human as temporary (say, to help with plot-setting an incoming villager). You can also use that secondary human temporarily to have him/her give those millions in bells to your town’s mayor.
