In-Game Map Villager Order?

I could have sworn the in-game map use to update the villager list in the weirdest order but I’ve moved in two villagers and now I notice it just shifts them to the bottom (so order-of-arrival).

Was I just imagining this or does anyone else remember the villager order being shifted in a seemingly random order?

I think it’s random, sherb is my oldest villager and peanut is my most recent but this is my map view..
