"In Boxes" Question!

So, I have a camper today I'm half considering moving in (Flora). I probably won't, but it got me thinking. I moved Rex in the other day and, when he talked to Cleo about moving (she was thinking about it because of the "night clowns", Rex said he didn't get into it... but I wish he did, I have QUESTIONS) she IMMEDIATELY went into boxes. BUT. He also mentioned she was going to move into his old plot on his non-existent (at least, not tangible) island. Which made me wonder- if you get someone into boxes this way, if someone visits, can they get that villager to move in? Or is their heart set on that imaginary lot?

Basically... can you sell/trade a villager in boxes this way

I'm not sure I understood your question, and I read it twice... But yes, you can have someone come to pick up a villager that's in boxes when a camper you invited will move in to that plot

Yah, basically. When you move a character into a lot it instantly puts the character moving out in boxes, as opposed to the way I'm used to (they say "I wanna move" you say "cool" and, the next day, they're in-boxes) I got confused because the in-game dialogue, that I'm guessing was written to make the whole process a little less bizarre, implies that the villager moving out will be moving into the campers "old lot" (obviously, one on an island that doesn't actually exist). So I was wondering if they really meant it, as in, if someone else invited them, would they turn them down because they already "have a lot" or something.

...Sorry if my question is confusing, it makes perfect sense to me, but I guess I know what I mean anyway Maybe I should've left out the part about the night clowns?

Yeah so that's it.. After someone comes to pick up the villager in boxes, a message will show saying he's moved out

From my experience, if a camper forces someone to move out they are immediately in boxes after you leave the campsite tent, they will stay in boxes until 5am when the new day begins.
In that time another player can come and ask them to move to their island.
I think the dialogue you heard was just a random dialogue they say when they decide to move. I’ve also had someone move because of those pesky clowns I think it was Bob.
