Imported Japanese 3DS

I considered this myself a while back. I would also make videos for TBT showing it. But honestly, it's not worth it. You'll appreciate the game a lot more when you can actually read it and have other people to play with.

Hopefully We will get it early in NA

resident evil came out in japan: January 26, 2012... and in NA on February 7th. That was a small wait.
Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan got in on July 28, 2012... and NA got it on August 19th. Yet another small wait.

If at best it would be amazing to get AC:Jump Out in February 2013

That all sounds good until you consider the amount of text in New Super Mario Bros. 2 compared to an Animal Crossing game.

I'm with you on this one.
I bought White in Japan when it came out in 2010, and when I got the english version I wasn't as interested in as much as I wanted to be. I skipped through most of the speech, and didn't pay attention to story line or anything.

For anyone that is seriously considering importing a Japanese 3DS: just know that the Japanese post office has rules which state that you cannot ship electronics with a certain type of battery (its found in the 3DS, as well as in laptops, PSPs etc), which means that if it was confiscated there is a big chance you would never see it. Maybe buying it through amazon means that they would handle it for you and it would be fine, but from another website/private seller it is a really bad idea. Also...as far as I'm aware nobody on here can even read basic Japanese! What fun would a game where being social is a major part of its selling point?? Patience is a virtue, everyone :)

Genki desu ka

I just cant write or read the phrase in kanji or Japanese... Lol

You could import one from Play-Asia or Yesasia, but they are very expensive. Limited edition consoles can cost double the price of the basic consoles or even more than that.
Plus the other points made on this thread. Importing one so that you can get one or two games earlier isn't worth it and the games themselves are expensive to import too with all of the shipping costs (Yesasia usually has free shipping though).

That being said, I have an imported Japanese 3ds and didn't have any problems getting it here. Downloading digital versions of the games will make importing games a bit easier since all you have to worry about is the conversion rate and not shipping costs. But English point cards don't work, so you either need to buy Japanese ones or use a credit card.

To add to this - I imported a 3DS LL from Japan off of Play-Asia (I believe they had a sale on it) and I can read basic Japanese ^^: I'm getting AC next month because I'm super impatient waiting for it - but I'll get by on what hiragana and katakana I can read and understand - which is very basic. I still think it's fair to say I will love the game just as much when it comes out in NA... but I love AC that much XD

And about points - I'm pretty sure Japan-Codes (website) has Japanese points for 3DS, Wii, PS3, etc.. :) So that's another option for those that want to use their own credit card

And WHOA. Just checked out that amazon link!! That's way too expensive for a regular Japanese 3ds! O_O I think I paid $350 for my 3DS LL... careful with that one D: (if you are buying one)
