I'm trying to make prom in Animal Crossing a reality. What kinds of furniture should I be trying to get? (More info in post)

I'm one of many high school seniors who has had their schoolyear taken away from them due to this unfortunate situation. While a lot of my friends are bummed, I've been trying to find ways to make something positive out of it and I've decided to try and bring back our canceled prom through Animal Crossing since today would've been our prom and pretty much all of my friends have been playing AC.

I'm planning to do this outside because I'll have a lot more space to work with and my town's a mess anyway so it'll give me an excuse to clean up. Right now I have floor lights and a DJ turntable I could use, but I don't own anything else that really fits the prom vibe. What other furniture should I look for? I'd also love some advice regarding some good custom patterns to use as flooring (or if I should just use the terraforming paths), how I should terraform my island to make it look cool, or what kind of fence I should use. I'm open to basically any idea you have to deck out my island for this. Any and all help would be very much appreciated!

This is such a sweet idea and I'm all for it. You could also do it on a sat so KK is in the plaza. Is there a certain theme you're looking for?

My school's prom theme this year was supposed to be the roaring 20's I think? I'm not sure how much I could replicate that in AC though so I'm open to other theme ideas if anyone has anything.

Most proms have a "theme." I remember mine was "A Night In Paris" which was horribly named since it was just a few years after a celeb's video got leaked...

Maybe think of a theme to help you think of colors and other items?
Starry Night Prom - celeste items, dark blues with bright yellows and silvers
Arabian Nights Prom - (idk why this is a popular on in the states in my area but it is) Warm reds, bright blues, golds, sand
Masquerade - Fancy, lux items, make guests wear some type of mask or face covering OR provide them as party favors
Under the Sea - Shell items anyone. Doesn't really scream "prom" but totally could do it.

Oh, my god.. I read the title waaay differently the first time because I wasn't entirely focus. Geez, brain.. get our of the gutter.

Anyways, I'm not really good with decorating with furniture, so I wish you luck. Hopefully others can contribute suggestions for you.

Hm, basically every instrument and some celestial diys maybe?
You could do a dance area surrounded by waterfalls

furniture/clothes for roaring twenties:

full lenght dress with pearls
phonograph
alto saxophone
flower stands
bingo wheel
colorful wheel black and red
harp
grand piano
velvet stool
golden candlestick
candles
glass holder with candle
cello
antique clock
pink palm tree lamps (kinda looks like feathers imo)
mic stand
silver mic
fancy violin
imperial dining table brown
retro stereo
fortune telling set
shell bed
lily record player
shell fountain
aluminium briefcase
desk mirror
magic kit
table with cloth (put some stuff on there)

I do like the idea of going with some kind of a star theme. I don't have a lot in terms of Celeste DIYs though and my shooting star luck has been absolutely abysmal so I don't have like any fragments. I'll definitely keep that one in mind though if I can work something out with my friends!

I'd still love to hear some other ideas and find out what kind of furniture I should try and get.

Some jazz themed furniture and instruments? The roaring 20's did have some jazz.

I have a couple of friends that might be able to supply jazz instruments so that could work. I'm not sure about what kind of furniture would go along with it though. I initially thought of the diner set but that's more 60's than 20's so I'm not really sure what to do there.

If you do get star fragments they look really pretty in dark rooms/at night since they light up! I saw someone just strew them around their room and have the lights off and it looked really cute

I think items from the antique set would be best. Or iron garden benches/chairs/tables.

Maybe you could get the floor lights and have them lead from the airport! Like your very own runway! If you need any I have green ones I would love to donate <3

Wow! That would be awesome of you to do, but I'm not going to jump at that offer until I know what kind of theme to go with. Thank you so much!

This might not be a bad idea, actually! I have a few of the antique items (like chairs and the mini table) so I could absolutely try to find a way to make that work. I do like the star theme quite a bit though.

I think right now I have the themes narrowed down to a masquerade, stars, or the roaring 20's (with an emphasis on the jazz part). Thank you so much for the help so far, everyone!
