I'm so tired of this...

O_O am I finally going to be comfortable enough to play in handheld mode again?

I actually use this for portable mode since my joycons haven't shown any drifting. It's super comfortable and I legit can't play without it. I know I sound like a spokesperson at this point lol, but it's seriously the best grip. Switch slides on and off and I have never seen any scratches on mine.

My issue hasn't necessarily been with drifting, just that the analog sticks get super sticky with the rubber/whatever material they use to coat them :( the pro controllers seemingly use something different which is what I was hoping to get with your original suggestion

I second what everyone is saying about the Pro Controller! I've had it since launch and I've never had an issue with it! Also congrats on finding Raymond!

Ok y'all I'm not upset at all that stitches went to the void, I just went on my 3rd NMT and I found Raymond I'm speechless

Wow that’s super lucky! Congrats!
If you don’t mind me asking, what happened that meant Stitches had to go to the void? I have his amiibo card so I’d be happy to get him for you once you have another space if you’d like 😄

Well I had an auction up for stitches but unfortunately my joy cons were going nuts and my time went ahead a couple of days but I was stupid and pressed the A button instead of B to confirm and stitches was gone. The void is a place where villagers when they aren't adopted stay waiting to be adopted but also thanks for offering Stitches but I moved him out because I wanted another lazy!

I was scared away by the things I was reading about the rumble on the Pro Controllers not being as strong/noticeable. Is that not the case? I need as minute a rumble as possible for fishing, so that’s my priority when it comes to controllers and why I stuck with the joy cons

The Nintendo USA free repair of joycons is true, but the repair centers are all closed right now for obvious reasons and I don't think they've announced a reopening date? Just in case that's a factor for anyone.

I haven't had issue with mine. It's been strong enough to notice when fishing and still vibrates when I hit something I can't dig up / etc

I sent gray Joy-Cons in for drift repair. Nintendo paid for the whole thing, and it only took a couple days.

I just went for it and ordered a pro controller. The rumble on my joy cons sometimes is oddly prolonged or overly strong at times, so I’ll take rumble of any sort as long as it isn’t like it is currently for me.

My right pro controller thumb stick drifts and has since I got it. I still def prefer the pro controller over the joycons and mostly it triggers when I'm doing letters. But yea, pretty annoying.
I should have warranty on it though, so I'll figure that out this weekend.

sorry about losing stitches!

I think I might be having joycon drifting as well. Everytime I run in ACNH, my character sometimes walks for a few seconds and then starts running. Sometimes when I’m running a long distance, it’ll walk for a few seconds in the middle before running again. It’s kinda bugging me.

Yup that's joy con drifting, I started noticing it when I first got the game and it hasn't gone away ever since

Not sure if they're still doing it with their contractors surely closed, but Nintendo's joycon repair service was really excellent. They didn't give me any grief, sent me a free label, and I had them back in like two weeks (I sent in a pair). I don't think I ever talked to a human, just automated emails.
That's back in the old days, pre-pandemic, of course. You can always buy a single joycon and re-pair them to hold you over, if only one is drifting.
Edit: I didn't pay anything for this!
And here's the link for US joycon support: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/ask/ht/789

I'm honestly worried about my joycons drifting, because I can't afford new ones. As it is, I might have to replace my charger, which is expensive enough...if either of these die on me, it's pretty much the end of AC or any game for me. I just can't afford it after losing my job.

They are not that difficult to fix. Get on Amazon and buy a fix kit for less than $10 and YouTube has plenty of videos to walk you through. I’ve fixed two of my own using fix kits and have had no more problems with my joy cons.
