I'm really disappointed in the behaviour of some of the fandom.

The CJ and Flick thing is a representation issue. People who identify LGBTQ+ (myself among them) can feel more included when a game or story explicitly shows that it recognizes that they exist in a nonnegative way. This desire to feel included can feel overwhelmingly strong for some people depending on how invested they are in the game and how in need of inclusion they are.

I don't think that Flick and CJ are a couple. However, I would not post that I don't think they are a couple on a thread where people were excited to think or headcannon that they were. Why not let the people who have a need to feel included enjoy feeling included together? Just because I am okay playing the game without representation does not mean everyone has to be.

I tend to stay away from fandoms in general because your argument, OP, could be said about practically any fandom just change the AC specific things to insert-other-fandom-here things but the general points happen in all sorts of ~fandom~ that is big enough and I guess with covid going on animal crossing has blown up insanely in such short amounts of time

A lot of the things you're saying I agree is a little annoying but I just step back and realize like ? None of this is real ? Why do I care ? Oh ? I actually don't care ? lmao and I don't say that to belittle any opinions one way or another but to ship or not ship or TT or 'cheat' or whatever is all everyones individual prerogative and when all is said and done none of this is real ! lol I find i'm most at peace with annoying fandom things is if I just... ignore it and the people because the weird negativity and arguments WILL happen whether you're there or not to witness it

I'm 24 and know people from my previous 'fandom' (1d....red dead redemption... classic rock... lmao) days who are pushing 30 and still participate in the gross drama and discourse of any and all fandoms and they get so.... involved with it to the point of it negatively affecting them and it is so absurd because it's like groundhog day ... it repeats over and over again ... 'fandom' discourse is inevitable no matter how uwu wholesome the fandom is unfortunately

TLDR; fandoms are always annoying regardless of what the fandom is even about and at the end of the day we're all angry old men yelling at clouds and getting worked up is understandable but.... we're old men.. yelling at clouds...
