I'm giving Rilla a chance

I’ve never understood the hatred for gorillas. I genuinely do not understand. Maybe it’s because to most people small = cute. To me the gorillas are the best species in the whole game.

Nothing against buff girls... but Rilla is unfortunately a Peppy villagers, just like Chai whose design I like a heck of a lot more, so... One of the two had to go and, as a fan of coffee, there was no way I was saying no to Chai and her coffee cup on the head

And I know what you mean about the cute shoes not being so cute anymore once they're not in smaller sizes. It sucks.

That’s hard for me to understand still because my favorite animal irl is the hippo and they’re super dangerous and territorial.

I think the issue I have with most gorrilas is their lips. They're so big and take up all the face. It looks unnatural
And also boone has something very inappropriate drawn on his face in red and I just can't unsee it

Yeah, hippos are def very dangerous. And scary, also.
I didn't know scary cute was a thing! I just feel like if there's a good chance that the animal could/would kill me if I met one in person, that's just scary. haha

Well, with the exception of babies. Baby animals are cute.

I'm 5'9" and have always hated how tall I am. I'm also very shy, and kinda clumsy, and feel like I stick out like a sore thumb. I would always see other girls wearing cute clothes or shoes, but I never felt like they looked good on me. Trust me... really cute shoes no longer look very cute when they're size 11, lol.
I think Rilla is comfortable in her own skin and is kind of inspiring in that way.

You did it. You convinced me to give Rilla a try. I'm 5'11" with a size 11-12 women's shoe, so I'm right along side of you with always wanting to wear cute things but them never coming in my size or looked good on me. I remember being CRUSHED as a young teen who wanted to wear Sketchers like all my friends, but they didn't make them in size 11.

I would like her more if not for her mouth and the strange patch of miscolored fur on her stomach. Hello Kitty doesn't have a mouth so to have a character based off Hello Kitty with a huge mouth is a little off putting and creepy. As for the patch on her stomach... it sticks out from her shirt in a bad way that looks... not right.

It is interesting to hear the opposite end of the size issue IRL, though. I'm 4'11 and wear size 3 shoes. It's so difficult to find shoes that aren't in the kids section and nearly impossible to find heels. Cute becomes more of an insult when you are trying to look sexy.

I gave Quillson the green smug duck who seems unpopular, and he ended up being one of the best smugs. I am glad people are giving villagers a chance!!

TBH, as far as Gorillas go, she may be my favorite (not my favorite species, but her lips as less scary). If/when I get the cards I think I might also give her a chance!

Also, as a girl who also wears a size 11 shoe, may I recommend the store Torrid? They're a plus-size store but have SUPER cute shoes that even tend to run big, I usually wear a size 10 wide from them, and they're good quality, a good price, and they don't use leather- which is big for me, may or may not be for you.
But I feel yah. I'm 5'11 and was always SUPER tall for my age. Like, when I graduated junior high, everyone thought I was graduating high school. ANd someone once asked if I was a parent volunteer when I was in 8th grade (admittedly, I was dressed up for a school function... but still) I ended up not being skinny and tall (I'm very curvy now) so my height doesn't seem so obvious/in your face now, but I swear it was all anyone could notice when I was a kid (the amount of people who told me I should play basketball, seriously)
Anyway, I like the way you're looking at her, and I think I'll look at her the same way from now on ☺

Personally, the lips make me uncomfortable. Something about the design makes me think of... multiple things that just aren't appropriate to discuss here, lol. But Rilla's lips don't bother me as much as some of the other villagers, they feel less dramatic, and I DO like her hair/color scheme. TBH, Gorillas aren't my favorite animal (appearance wise) IRL because they just teeter on the edge of human/not human and it weirds me out, lol.
But, yah, I'll definitely move in Rilla now if I have the chance. She is pretty cute!

I think the problem some people (like me) have with Rilla is that a lot of us Hello Kitty fans who are also Raymond fans and ACNH-other-cat-villager fans (Felicity!) and who love real cats are just disappointed that we can't have Hello Kitty herself walking around our islands. I mean, when I heard about "Sanrio villagers" that's what I initially thought it meant since I didn't have experience with older versions of AC.

Honestly seeing her in HD in New Horizons makes me like her a lot more. I don't think the graphics in New Leaf did her any favors. Now I can see all the little details, like her earrings and bow nose. Who knows, I might move her onto my island one day. I usually only can handle one peppy villager at a time, so maybe once I get ready to have my current Peppy villagers move out I'll give her a go.
