I'm considering getting rid of most of of my 2nd level cliffs.

I'm not so sure about that. From my experience things like the sweet fish can only be caught on the 2nd level cliff.

I've caught all of them on 1st level cliffs as my starting map left me with only 1 small water fall on the 2nd level. The only requirement is that it's on a cliff. You can Google it if you're still unconvinced.

Woah that's wack. I wonder if it doesn't work for me because I also have 2nd level cliffs and they just appear on the highest level? Maybe it does that if you only have 1rst level cliffs or something. Good to know though

I'd like the second level more if there didn't have to be a space of one block to start the second level. it makes it really inconvenient for me

Huh... I'd actually never thought of it, but it'd be nice to save some ramps, since I've used up all of mine :p

I had three naturally occurring 2nd level cliffs (dunno if that's standard or not), and so far I've used two to put houses on (my house, and my side character's haunted house) and the third is open for... IDK, whenever The Roost or some other new building gets released. Or maybe some villager will get moved there at some point.

BUT. If I changed my haunted house's location, that'd save me a ramp, and might make my lighthouse illusion better... You've given me some stuff to think about 😝

Also, what's the deal with fishes only being able to caught on higher tiers? I've never once heard of this, can someone fill me in? Like, what fish? Pond or river? Seasons?

I got rid of almost all my second level cliffs! I only have a very small portion with a 2nd level cliffs, it's where I have my pond and forest.

I just managed to fit everything in with my max number of inclines. (Pardon the out-of-place house. I'm still doing some final shifting around.)

I have found the 2nd level cliffs kind of useless as well. Does anyone ever see their villagers up there? Doesn't seem like my villagers usually venture that far.

I definitely have, mostly by my house. My house is on a 2nd level cliff with a pond/waterfall out back, and occasionally my villagers will wander/fish around it. Sometimes they wander onto the empty one, too- it's near the campsite and a few villager houses.

I don't think I've ever seen them by my haunted house, though. Which... is quite fitting, now that I think about it 😆

I have three separate sections of second-tier cliffs across the back of my island: the left houses the museum; the middle one has a clifftop pond and waterfall and is my current dumping ground for flowers to be used at a later date; the right has a star gazing garden with crescent moon chairs, nova lights, flowers and a pond.

I like all three - the left and right were originally part of my map, but I added the middle one fairly late on after realising that I wanted one more waterfall on my island.

Yeah, they tend to go up to my museum and the little garden area next to it, and I've found one or two in my star gazing area before.

I've seen some GORGEOUS museum layouts set up on 2nd level cliffs and I'm always a bit tempted to do it with mine. My museum is in the same spot I originally placed it, but I've done a lot of work to make it super cute... it'd take a lot of reworking to get it up on a cliff, but it WOULD be cool.

EDIT: Here's my museum RN, though I've changed it a -teensy- bit since taking these (mainly those gumball machines are gone, lol):

I put my museum on the ground cause I didn't want to dedicated 3-4 ramps to an area I wasn't going to visit frequently. I have some level two cliffs for aesthetics so you would need a ladder to get there or they are just blocked by furniture or bushes.

I think having big areas of first level cliffs and small areas of second level cliffs look better.

I have a 2nd level cliff behind Dobie's house- I can climb to the middle (1st level) cliff with a ladder (does anyone else wish we could place ladders as permanent structures?) but the 2nd level, the main access is by my camping area. I couldn't figure out how to make the 1st level work for awhile, but eventually I decided to just do a single tile wide strip of flowers all around 😛

Ladders would be great or have the Climbing walls be functional. I eventually would like to get to a point where I'm not carrying a ladder or vaulting pole everywhere on my own island

For me I Trying to keep it Basic Cute Town with Some Style. I will go nuts trying to make my town better then yours type of thing. So Not trying to Go overload with Haveing the best looking museum or Layout. My Style is where i can Go to A to B Easy and everything look neat. I add a Power Plant area next to my Outdoor Movie place. Then next to at is my Com area so My Island look like it try to stay in contact with the world. Trees area and flowers area for food and Breeding flowers. A Campsite with a outdoor Vender machine for food and drink and bath. A Tradeing Dock with Food and drink and a Phone nearby for Redd to Contact his supplyer and Me.

I got rid of most of mine. I kept a small 2 level mountain in the upper right of my island where I'll fish for 'cliff top' spawns since most of the river on the first level isn't great for fishing. I ran into an incline problem which resulted in me redoing 95% of it again so I'm just avoiding 2nd level cliffs

Well To Add to my early Post as it seem i forgot to add about 2nd level and 3rd level. Sorry about at. Not Good with my grammer so i left at Key Point out by misstake. So To add to what i say early. I do have a 2nd/3rd Level is where my Power Plant in the top right center of my island with my 3rd level Sat Com Array/ River Mouth at the top Right of my island. The 2nd Level river/ Land Linking to those two to the Pond at the 3rd Level at the left a bit but close to the center of the island. Level 2 on my Island is just to Allow a River to Snake it away from the top Right to the center of the isand before going left or right on the ground level out to sea. I Do Have Ramps Here and there on my island to allow easy Way to level 2 and level 3. I Do Have Hop spot in some area so i can get to the other side of the river at snake it away in left or right before going down to ground leave to go left and right/go to the bottom. I Do not have a Map on Hand so i hope i am clear.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of the top part but it's the clifftop pond and how I get to the secret beach.

I hate that area because I can't do anything with it.

I've got bamboo up there and a bridge that crosses the pond, but I really don't like it.

I have a multi-tiered neighborhood, with the avian villagers on the top. My museum is also on the 2nd level along with space-themed furniture. My campsite is also on the 2nd level to isolate it. So yeah, it works for my island design-wise.
