I'm considering getting rid of most of of my 2nd level cliffs.

2nd level means the highest you can build on. Ground, 1st level, 2nd level. Hope that's not confusing.

I just find they're unnecessary. I want to do things, but need more ramps that are being using for cliffs that don't add much to my island. Anybody else find they're happy with just the first level cliffs? do have some I will keep using as mainly dividers/walls, but they aren't big enough to require access.

Thoughts?

I find myself in a similar situation. When I got the ability to terraform, I didn't change any of my cliffs and I left them as is and started building stuff and placing houses. Now I find myself in a situation where I need those staircases, but removing everything is such a chore I don't think I'd be willing to put up with lol.

Mine are empty for the most part. One of the reasons I'm considering removing them.

I demolished the most part of my 2nd level cliffs. There's nothing I could came up with in terms of decoration because of the river sourse. So I decided to keep only a small cliff which is a part of my bamboo area.

Removing all 2nd level cliffs from your island will mean there's a few fish you can't catch on your island. You'd have to use nook miles tickets and get a good island to catch those.

I've kept both 2nd level cliff areas my island came with, only shortened the biggest one a tile to get a ramp down to Redd's beach. The biggest one has a bit of river, some fruit trees, flowers, fencing and decoy ducks/signposts. The smaller one has a pond, and is overgrown with cosmos in all colors. I gave both of them ramps, and I think they look pretty ^.^

I used 4 inclines for an elaborate entrance to my museum, and now I have nowhere near enough for the mountaintops, which currently exist to store a bunch of flowers...

Definitely removing at least 2/3 of my mountaintops.

Yeah, I did think of that. I'll keep one upper level waterfall so I can catch those fish. I may get rid of it once I've caught them. Who knows, though. My plan may have completely changed by the time that happens. My daughter says nothing is eternal on my island. That is the truth! LOL

I find that most of my second level cliffs just have caused me to use more stairs than I should have. I ended up getting rid of two and just my house is up there now so I don't need so many stairs!

Not true, those can be caught on the 1st level cliff. Also, since they were all available in March, it's possible OP has them already.

I tore down all my 2nd level cliffs and never felt any regret for it. I did it mostly because of what you described: they take more ramps and I like not carrying around the ladder or pole. But I'm currently thinking of maybe trying out making a really small 2nd level area tucked in a corner or something, and maybe using it as a little "meteor shower observation" area. Might put the telescope up there, maybe a handful of shrubs or other little things to pretty it up.

I have 2 areas that are the highest cliffs. One has my house, which I love having up that extra level. The other is a plateau that is only accessible by ladder. It's a Teddy Bear Picnic and pretty much every tile is decorated, so I don't really need to get up there.

I only have one place that really utilizes the top most cliff that has places for people to visit, which is the bamboo forest.

For the most part if I have the higher cliffs it is more for a decoration (water feature, at more dynamic levels with plants) so I don't have to put inclines to those... but even with that the whole "only allowed 8 inclines" thing is killing me. =/

My 2nd level cliffs are mostly for houses that I wanted to build, but let me "separate" in a way and some waterfalls. Other than that, there's not much. The good thing about terraforming is that it allows you to make the island the way you want it to be.

I actually really like my second level cliffs. I do have some space on them that I don't know how to use currently, but that is not something I would fix by bringing it down a level. I've already done some things with them that I really love so far though! See below:

Using second level cliffs I could make a little excavaton site

It made for a nice background wall for my Able Sisters

It let me do funny perspective things with the rocket for the space center/observatory (WIP)

And it also hides the secret path to the secret beach (WIP)

Same! I got rid of almost all of mine and only kept a small one where i have a lake up there and another one but it is also not that big.

I'm not so sure about that. From my experience things like the sweet fish can only be caught on the 2nd level cliff.

When I was able to terraform the first thing I did was demolish all of my cliffs to be just ground level and cut my trees down. From there I've been slowly building back up to be what I want it to be. I will say the island seemed a lot bigger without them.
