Hi. I've apparently had an account here since 2016 and didn't realize it lol. Just logged in today to ask about some weird gamecube occurrences, but I looked around a bit and thought maybe this is a place I could hang around often. Can't guarantee it, but I thought enough about it to at least wanna make a hello post.

I'm 26, non-binary, queer, newly married & relocated to Canada. My biggest interests are music & anime, the former more than the latter, though if you want to find me on RYM or Anilist I have linked to both here. Also very into Pokemon, Splatoon & Rupaul's Drag Race at the moment.

As for Animal Crossing, the series has been an integral part of my life for the past 15 years or so. Was obsessed throughout middle and high school, and have never come to a full stop playing since, just on & off with different series. I'm at a total standstill with my New Horizons town (and have been for nearly a year now), but just started playing the original for the Gamecube recently for nostalgia's sake and because I missed mean villagers and the charm of old-gen consoles.

So maybe I'll start posting here more, just wanted to say hi.

i’m at a standstill with my island, too, so you’re not alone in that haha. i’ve actually been trying to catch up to present day after taking several hiatuses, and i’ve only caught up today, a year later lol. i’m afraid i can’t help with any questions about the original ac as i’ve never played it, but i hope you have fun playing again! it’s always seemed like an awesome game, and the dialogue i’ve seen from it always makes me laugh.

what sorts of music are you into? do you play any instruments?

As for favorite villagers, I probably can't point at one single villager, but I definitely have like a group of S tiers. I've always liked pretty boys, so Ed, Chief, Marshal, Wolfgang, Fang, Kidd, and Sasha are all up there. Also loooove Iggly and Ken. Favorite female villagers are probably Amelia, Phoebe, Skye, and Audie, one for each personality.

And yeah I've played every mainline animal crossing at least (not counting...amiibo party or Pocket Camp or DnM for the N64) and have no doubt put hundreds of hours into each lol. Think New Leaf would be my favorite if I had to pick one.

Oh congrats on catching up on your island. Yeah, idk, I do think that New Horizons is a really incredible game in so many ways, but I've never fallen off a new AC game as quickly or as HARD as I did with New Horizons. I like, cannot make myself play it lately. And it really sucks cause my island is not even in a finished state, I started renovating in January and never finished so it's just a whole mess.

But yeah, the original is awesome. It's really fun to go back to after spending the last couple years on NH. All the customization in New Horizons is nice, but sometimes roughing it and going back to the good old days of dressers that only hold 3 items and fossils that have to be sent through the mail to get checked makes you feel alive lol. I do recommend ACGC though, I know getting your hands on the game itself isn't the easiest or most cost effective though (I'm very glad I've retained the majority of my childhood gamecube games over the years).

As for music, haaa, I kinda just listen to everything? I don't know, that's such a nothing answer, but I literally listen to so much music for different projects I work on, picking just one style or artist to call my favorite is hard. But to keep it simple, deep down I am an emo kid and good emo, post-hardcore, etc. is always going to make me happy. Favorite song of all time is Welcome to the Black Parade, favorite acts are The Dear Hunter, The Protomen, and Kate Bush.

And also, thanks. We've been living together two months now (met online and had been dating long distance for 2 years before I finally made the move from Alabama to Alberta), and it's been great.
