hi i'm maya (i just changed my username bc i go by a different name now), and i've been coming on here again for a few days + i intend to stay as an active user this time, so i'm reintroducing myself ! i'm a gemini, i like singing, i'm aspiring psychologist, etc.

i was here mostly during the new leaf days and on/off since then. i've just always been really confused as to how to use this forum bc i was so used to ACC. but this week, i found out i can lurk here using the "what's new" tab like i did there with the "all public threads" page, and i feel way more in the loop now. i was really really active on ACC starting in 2007 when i was a wee third grader, was on staff, etc... (if you recognize me feel free to PM me and chat if ya want)

but i like it here! :] i rlly lament not getting into bell tree culture with all the customization and collectibles and whatnot...

i'm currently playing new leaf as my main game. my boyfriend and i have a gamecube town that we check on every few weeks. i also am trying to play new horizons at least once a week again. (i'm really intent on finishing/decorating my island, Twinleaf—you can check out my island journal from 2023 by clicking on my pronouns hehe)

i tried playing wild world (my first ac game) again recently, but i could not stomach it at this time. i'd have to be way more distracted and on-the-go to appreciate its charming, glitchy, simple gameplay. that is not where i'm at atm... i have a lot of time on my hands rn bc i'm working part-time from home and trying to get a grip on a few health issues before i decide if i really, truly want to jump into academia/go to grad school. so i have wild world reserved for that time... seems like a perfect time to play for a few minutes every day, water flowers, and laugh at some funny villager dialogues. animal crossing is one of my special interests btw

my bf and i might start a city folk town tonight, though! might not play it much bc i don't really like its ui and controls... i mostly want to see how quickly i can get hybrids and create dirt paths. (that's something i'm doing in new leaf, too, lol)

anyway! i'm down to trade or play new horizons online, new leaf when pretendo eventually supports it, maybe wiimmfi on city folk in the near future, and also really down for gamecube trades!!

and ofc i'll just be here replying to random threads and stuff hi again!

plucky is definitely still one of my besties hehe, but i actually forgot to talk to her when i dusted off my game last week, oh no !!! my fav is actually kiki i love her houses in the older games with the blue furniture series. who are your favs?

I have it! It’s pretty fun. Not only do you get to design vacation homes, but also a cafe, school, hospital, and restaurant on the HHP island! (Where Lottie and her crew work)

is participating in events a good way to get immersed in the culture here? where do people spend the most time on this website??

i'm not sure how private messaging works here, either... on ACC, you could make threads or "conversations" with pretty much as many people as you wanted, and they functioned like threads on a public board. but that doesn't seem to be the case here? i have to pay bells to do something like that? i'm guessing, here, it's not really the same as a thread...

Events are definitely one of the things that keep people coming back. I’ve seen a few users who aren’t too active until an event happens and they suddenly return. Events are one of the ways I became acquainted with the forum.

The larger-scale events typically happen in the summer, like Camp TBT, Bell Tree Fair, or TBT World Championship. The first is my favorite personally, so I’m hoping it makes a return either this year or the next.

As for messaging, you click on a user’s icon and next to the ‘ignore’ button, you’ll see ‘start conversation.’ Click that, and you’ll start a private conversation with someone. It’s a little different than the private threads on ACC.

Note that some users limit who can send them messages or even view their profile (ie. only people they follow, etc.), so if you run into an error that’s likely why.

honestly we haven’t kept going… every time i’ve tried in the past ten years i’ve booted it up again i just can’t. i always think it sounds like a fun idea and then i can’t get myself to do anything after i work for nook.

but its like wild world console edition with pg themes. Its all upgrades. maybe youre used to other games and it feels more like home so if you give it a chance maybe itl feel more comfortable?

see that’s what i tell myself every time, but the little things still bother me. maybe it’s that i played it TOO much as a kid. i’d like to try again in the future but i guess its time is not now. as it is, i’m more interested in returning to wild world, despite its lack of content, before i try city folk. and once i have a decked out wild world file, i’ll transfer my character and their catalog to city folk. maybe i’ll enjoy it more that way

hmm, I have some video game conundrums currently. I cannot play the games I know ill like because I know ill be faced with some. Occasionally Ill be ok and play. I recently hacked my 3ds and gamecube and have basically the whole library of what Id want for GBA, DS, 3DS, and gamecube available to me in sd cards playable at a whim. Some games Im mega pumped to play, I just cant. Its cause I know ill feel away from what drives me to love it. So like most games they get put on a backburner waiting until i am ready. I am in a somewhat video game limbo..

Since Ive grown from a lot of games I used to play when I was young, my perspective has changed. Sometimes I get this thing where I just play to complete it and its like the spirit is sucked out of it, and its no fun. Feels like work. Maybe Ive been watching too much youtube for that.
