If you want to put 2 benches next to each other how big does the gap have to be?

I wanted to put 2 yellow benches next to each other with one tile in between them, will this be possible or does there have to be 2 tiles or more between them? I don't want to make the first and go through the hassle of destroying it if it's not gonna work!
