but you still were in the same day as you were before, does it count as one day? for instance, if it was 5PM and you time traveled to 2AM would the game recognize it as a whole new day?
 
Most likely yes since the start of a new day is registered in the game as 6 am. I could be wrong tho so don't quote me on that but I would say yes.
 
yes because the game sets a new day on 6 am
i don't know how to rephrase that.
um, it'd be 1 day ahead but the same session as the day before

Behind 6am means a new dAy. An example:
Villager is moving out in the 15th, you are on the 14th. If you tt to before 6am, although it's not the 15th, the game registers it as a new day and the villager will be in boxes
