If you reset would you change your clock back to March 20th?

I posted about resetting my island a few days ago -- and have finally made the decision to do it! I'm really looking forward to playing the early parts of the game again, begin working towards a theme, and having my island be wide open again (I went crazy with the terrraforming.)

In New Leaf, I accidentally deleted my original town. Instead of simply starting a new town, I set my time back to the date I started to play the game. After that I time traveled back to the correct date and played from there.

Since we waited for the release of New Horizons for such a long time I am tempted to do this once again. I know that some other people who have reset in New Horizons have also done this, and I was wondering if you would?

my friend did that too. she didn’t reset recently but like a month after the game was out & she didn’t wanna lose the time she worked on. so she set clock back to release day and played in fast forward from there. good idea if you have time.

when i reset i think my system clock was set to january????? i was messing with it and my characters birthday a LOT bc i was so desperate to get cosmos as my native flower (the main reason i was resetting). now my island has a fake starting date but its SWAMPED with cosmos and i'm thrilled about it! so i say do what makes you happiest tbh

I plan to do this with my new Island especially for the cherry blossom diys.

Yup, that's exactly what I did. I made sure that I spent each day doing everything that needed to be done so that I could progress as I slowly tted to the present.

No. I would just start from whatever the actual date is.

The date on my second island is sometime in May.

I wouldn't change the clock if I did reset (which I would never do). I would just keep playing from whatever date it currently is when I would hypothetically restart my island (which again I would never do)

I did that when I reset and it took me 3 weeks or more (I think) to catch up. I made sure to do the dailies and everything else that I needed to do like catching bugs and fish so I could fill up my critterpedia and finished off my fossils. It was very tiring tbh lol. I had my switch on airplane mode so I wouldn’t update yet til I got to July 3rd. Did not terraform as well so I still had stuff to do. Also didn’t do any trades and only started once I had caught up to the actual date.

If I ever reset my island, I will not turn the clock back to March 20th. I will start with the current time and progress from there. I can wait next year to experience the cherry blossom season & bunny day again

I restarted in early May and did exactly that. It was nice to be able to collect all the seasonal stuff and not have to worry about waiting until next year to get them, but it took me forever - probably about a month - to catch up to real time.

No I would set it somewhere in cherry blossom season. I have started in cherry blossom season and want to keep that way. This is part of the reason why I don’t want to reset as it just wouldn’t feel as special if I didn’t start on the correct date. And I have a weird obsession with starting my island on cherry blossom season so yeah. Idk if I’m making sense or not.

Well, let's see... Not resetting the clock would mean missing out on:

Cherry blossom season
Bamboo furniture
The eggpocalypse
The wedding season
Some bugs/fish that will be back soon enough

Doesn't seem worth it to me. Some of the cherry blossom items are nice I guess, but I'd be happy to trade those with other people instead.

I wouldn’t because it seems disingenuous to me. Not toward other players, but to my own experience.

So that your passport and island anniversary (if that happens in New Horizons as it did in New Leaf) would show when you started the game, not the specific island.

Quoting this to explain my reasoning:

The date of my Island’s founding is what really matters to me. It’s not like I’ll forget when I bought the game, and I don’t think that date needs to be celebrated specifically. The founding is special to me though, because it marks the day I established my Island and started the journey toward developing it. I’d like the anniversary to reflect that progress.

As far as items go I’d just rather wait until those early events come around again next year. Some people have other priorities and that’s fine, but to me an authentic start now in July is better than a fake one in spring.

When I decided to reset around May I didn't go back to March 20 mostly because I would've been too lazy to grab all the event/seasonal DIY's. I don't really care about my island anniversary/passport establishment information.

That said, I decided to make my establishment date June 23rd because... Well, you know if you know. And the Roses/Apples being my native is kinda cool.
