personally i'd just leave it, i'd worry for the person who lost it but i don't want to go through the effort of finding them or any of that other stuff

this happened to me at cedar point lol, i just walked up to like a few people and asked if it was theirs and a few said no then one said yes so i guess that's what i'd do

I would take the money out of the wallet, then I would return it to the owner.
(note that the wallet would be back in the purse, or I would just return the empty wallet)

I guess I would just pick it up and see if there's some contact information in there and contact the owner to meet up and give it back to him/her. If it's in a store or something though, I'd probably just pick it up and tell one of the people working there "I found this" and just give it to them to deal with. But there's also a chance that I would leave it there because I don't want other people to think I was "stealing" or whatever.

I'd only try to return it to its owner if it was at a place like an amusement park and I could just take it to the lost and found. Otherwise, if it was on the streets I'd probably just leave it there. If we weren't talking wallets and were talking bills all is fair game. Although, I'd probably feel bad if there was a $100 lying around.

I've been on both sides of this, finding other people's wallets and having my own found for me, so obviously I would try my best to get it back to it's owner

If there was an ID inside, I'd mail it to their address. However, I would not put my name and return address on the package. And if I'm being honest...I'd remove the cash first. I'm not a very good person.

I've been in this situation twice: once I saw them drop it and once I just found it.

The first time I obviously returned it. (And got a little boon for it too, rad)

The second time wasn't as simple. I had to use the bits and pieces of what information was left behind in the wallet to contact them over the phone. I honestly forget their reaction, but I remember I was happier for solving the little puzzle fate left behind more than I was happy to return someone's wallet. I dunno what that says about me but whatever.

I also managed to return a phone that had it's screen cracked into permadeath with my girlfriend. We managed to access siri and tell her to "call home". The dude on the other end was super happy and gave us a bunch of fresh apples. It was a good day.

Story time though

also I would leave it there

I'd try to return everything back to whoever lost it and not take anything because that's what I hope someone else would do for me if I accidentally misplaced my stuff... I probably shouldn't put that much trust in humanity, though.

I've found wallets before. Always returned them, or took them to a lost and found area.

I lost a wallet full of money once when I was younger and I felt terrible about it, so I'd wanna try to find the owner. I guess it depends where I found it, but if there was an employee or a lost and found I could drop it off at I'd just do that, and if not then I'd go ahead and open it to see if they had any contact information inside.

Do everything to track down the owner and take them out to lunch with their money

I'm worried about some of the responses in this thread. Why would you take the money? It would kind of ruin the whole action of doing something really caring and thoughtful, lmao. It's *******ish. I hope if I ever lose my purse that you guys never get your hands on it. ):

Oh and if I saw someone had dropped it in a public place like a shopping centre or something, I'd hand it into like a lost and found desk, that's usually the first place that people would go if they've lost something.

Kind of indifferent about this... I'd usually just leave it be but maybe if it was just laying around some marketplace randomly then I'd take it to an info desk or the police or ask the closest employee if they know about it/seen the owner or if the owner was really close, then maybe shout out to them about it ("Hey, did you leave your bag/purse here?").

But 75% of the time I'd most likely leave it there. Pretty sure about it. Would never take other people's stuff unless it's something as insignificant as a pedestrian safety reflector or a button or something.

I suppose taking the money could be justified. If someone just left it there, it's not like you're forcibly taking it away. It's not really your responsibility to return it to it's owner and if you just leave it there, someone else might take it anyway. So I guess under those premises, it would be okay to take the money. It just really depends on what gives you more gratitude. If you would feel happier making someone else happy by returning the wallet, then you'll do that. If you would feel happier using the money to indulge yourself, then you'll do that. I'm not sure there is really a right or wrong answer in this situation.

I know there are honest people out there. However, I think that a lot of people would keep the cash, even if they won't admit it out loud.

if there's info like a phone number , picture , address , etc. on it i'd find them myself , but if not i'd take it to a lost and found or employee nearby .

Of course I'd return it. Who'd be so cruel to take it or leave it there?

I actually did return someone's wallet when he accidentally left ito in class. He was very thankful I did.
