If you don't pick Wisp up, will the lamp forever remain on that spot??

Just wondering if the lamp will forever stay where it is if I don't bother picking him up??
I got the update for the other stuff but I don't really have any use for Wisp and the amiibo aspect of it. I only have a few cards and the only villager I want to move into town is not one of them. Anyway, can you pick up the lamp and drop it somewhere else, out of sight or is it one of those items you can't drop unless it's in your house or something?

If you're talking about not helping him when hes in his lamp when you first meet, then he'll move to another spot the next day.

I TTd a day at a time to get a ping from villagers and he's in the same spot :/

Weird. When I did it in my 2nd town. He was near the bridge on the right. But when I skipped to the next day, he was on the far left of where the bridge was.

I moved him to the beach to check and then TTd and he's still there

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't help him, just left him in the original spot where he first appeared and he was in the same spot when I TT a few days forward. When I saw what you said I wanted to check and so I picked him up and moved him and TTd again to see if he would change spots and he didn't change spots either time. Maybe I am confused but I guess it doesn't matter anyway ^^
