Definitely shovel for me as well especially with having to dig up all the flowers now to move them.

I'd choose the shovel followed by net then slingshot.
Right now, I keep a pile of shovels on my island and have a stack of sticks in my pockets for crafting nets and fishing rods on demand.

another vote for shovel lol, surprise. it's my most used now that i'm working on designing my island again. but also i'd really wish the stone axe/axe and the store bought nets wouldn't break either bc i need those frequently too.

I mean, we already have shovels that don't break: the ones we use for water and landscaping.

It would also be the shovel for me as well. It is the tool I mostly always use for mashing rocks, using an axe to mash rocks is so unusual to me, maybe I'm just used too used to using the shovel since New Leaf xD I don't get why Nintendo would make golden tools breakable, I mean what the point on making a golden shovel when it requires you to waste a golden nugget each time you craft it AND the tool breaks. Also, the shovel is multipurpose, unlike all the other tools. You only use the watering can to water flowers, you only use the net to catch bugs and critters, you only use the fishing rod to catch fish, etc. The shovel can pick up flowers, help you mash rocks, shovel up trees and pick up bushes.

Shovel hands down. I have around 500 flowers on my island and moving them all around for renovations was a nightmare! Plus there’s always the fear of my shovel breaking mid rock-hitting

Another shovel vote. All tools are annoying when they break, but at least with the amount of time fishing and bug catching take, you can't break those tools within minutes.

I know this isn't technically answering the question correctly, but the gold set of tools sort of counts as one in its own right, right?? I could deal with every other tool breaking if the gold set didn't - when I eventually get them I don't see myself using them if they break considering they're sort of like trophies, plus it'd feel more like you'd earned something if when you got gold tools they didn't break! Wish nintendo would change their minds on this!

It's SOO annoying. In NL You would hardly use the shovel anyway but it would never break. but in NH you can't just pick up flowers like in NL; you have to dig them up with a shovel - use them WAYYYY more - and they eventually break. it's stupid, honestly. and what's even MORE stupid is how you can get the golden shovel DIY - helping Gulliver 30 frikin times?! Why not just let us get it after breaking like 100 shovels like with the axe??!?!??!!? Well.... then I guess us with the green thumb would be able to get it in like a week lmao. I NEED GOLDEN SHOVEL

as much as i dislike the shovel always breaking, i'll have to say watering can. it's so frustrating for me to water flowers everyday, and i can't finish even one batch without my watering can breaking! shovel would definitely be next in line though!

Hey guys: my island was a monster every time after it rained and i'd go thru ab 1 million shovels a day, so what I did was make a custom design that was just transparent and put it next to all the flowers that i didn't want to reproduce. worked like a charm and now at least my island's manageable

I still hate how shovels break tho THIS LITTLE TIP WILL NOT CHANGE THE BREAKAGE OF SHOVELS XD

either the shovel or watering can. but if i had to pick only one then i'd definitely go with shovel because nowadays i'm constantly moving trees and flowers around and it always breaks... i think i craft 5 shovels daily at this point.
