If I make a new islander, will I get more design slots?

The design slots are shared sadly.

Yeah, can confirm. I share my island with 3 other people and we all share design slots. No more than 1, but thankfully no less than 1 person's share.

I feel that is such poor planning / execution, and I feel it really limits the ability to fully customize my island
