Bells
47
Ankha in particular.

despite having a smaller house than me, my villagers surprise me w/what they have, craft, etc. Ankha already has a solid gold house and gave me numerous gold diys...

... now she gave me a money flooring diy. it costs 50K bells to make. HOW MANY BELLS DO THEY ACTUALLY HAVE??

They try to hide their wealth by donating so little or nothing to projects and telling you they need to sell items to you so they can afford stuff. I once had a fire pit in my pockets and was offered 32,000 bells (a mere 1/3 of the retail price) for it. Merengue messed up big time by offering that and ever since then, I don’t buy a thing from anyone.

Fun fact: the friendlier you are with your villagers, the more willing they are to share their wealth with you. I had Billy, who's at max friendship with me, offer me 19,500 for a dorado once. Clay offered 13k for an arowana. I took that money

Maybe they just have different priorities for how they want to spend their money?

Some of them definitely show their assets! Elvis is, I believe, the richest villager I have. Gold everywhere....the gold astrology items, the gold bench, sarcophagus, lamps, etc... A palace of a house, so probably the richest on the island.

Unless, of course, Benjamin has a bunch if gold bars buried under his dirt floor...

Raymond has a safe in his house. When I open it, it says that there is nothing there, but I see those stacks of gold that he is trying to hide from me :cautious: I know Muffy is pretty poor though, she would always tell me about how she couldn't afford things at nooks/ables that were kind of cheap or to pay off her nook loan (she was a starter).

my villagers are cheap as hell, they only donated like 45 bells to my public works project. and tom nook has the audacity to say that everyone helped contribute. if I could yeet him into the ocean I would lmao

my villagers don't contribute even when ankhas out here with gold furniture but thats okay because I'm okay with them just looking cute and doing cute things xD

They want to accumulate more wealth and assets, therefore they can be stingy at times with sharing such resources.
👀
Since it's an island getaway package that brought them here, I know my villagers are well-off. And have offshore bank accounts like Tom Nook.

Spoilers, all the boxes in Billy's junk themed house contain bars of solid gold.
