Lief, Saharah, and Kicks show up every week. The other npcs are random with the exception of Wisp and Celeste. Wisp can appear any day of the week and Celeste has the chance to appear when the weather is fine.
I know, but I thought its Lief, Saharah, and Kicks one day the next day is the rest of the npcs and the day after that would be Lief, Saharah, and Kicks again.

I believe so. Not only this, I'm pretty sure he always had one genuine piece.
Not from what I remember unless they changed it with the Welcome Amiibo update. I remember going months without seeing him and then seeing him back to back every other day sometimes. He seemed really random in New LEaf.
yeah I remember that for sure. i feel like at least he should have 1 genuine piece every time he arrives because I've heard some people say that all his pieces were fake. Fortunately it hasn't happen to me yet.
Today was the second time he had all fakes. I suppose it's ok, since I'm not in too big of a rush to finish the museum.
Yeah that is why I don't blame people who use tt to farm redd.
