Myself and one other person actually attempted to start threads dedicated to people who need town name help, but they both pretty much died, which is why I gotta wonder if anyone else thinks that we need a (possibly stickied) official thread for people who need help naming their town.

Just about everyday there are two or three threads posted by people needing help naming their town. This isn't me bashing those people though, if anything, the frequency of these should really make it more obvious that we kinda need one big thread for this kind of help. Having two or more threads of people just asking for town name help makes the forum look kind of cluttered and it'd just be more efficient in general to have one big place where people can go for help with this.

I'm not sure if this should go here or in the Bell Tree HQ, but considering it pertains specifically to this section of the forum, I'm posting it here for now. Does anyone else think that this would be helpful?

I agree, there's way too many threads about "What should I name my town"

I actually need to disagree because nobody ever reads those stickied topics.

We have a thread for Katie in the train station. Nobody ever checks it. I posted about having Katie in there and didn't get a single VM.
Same for the "Seeking Villagers" thread. Nobody ever checks it. Numerous villagers being seeked in there are simply autovoided without a word. It's not even worth using.

We have all these big crowded stickies but forumgoers -never- check the stickied topics. Ever. You might and believe me, I applaud you for it, but 90% of our population isn't gonna check them.

So even if we made a thread, chances are the person isn't gonna receive any help and will end up posting in the main forum anyway. It's a trend I've noticed with Katie and Dream Addresses, and judging by the fact that they never get "cleaned up" or redirected to the sticky, I'm assuming the exact same would happen with name threads.

It'd be wonderful in a perfect world but sadly I don't think it'll do much good unless every person on this forum decided to do as nature intended and check the stickies, but I doubt that'll happen. The mods could stand to make more of a point of using/reading them, but given how much they deal with already I'm guessing that's probably asking a lot.

Anyway case and point is that a standalone thread with a title will actually be seen and given attention. A post in a sticky won't. There's not enough organization or thread tools to help posts stand out, nor is there any way to receive a specific notification unless the person PMs/VMs you.

Now if we were notified when QUOTED or something...that would be nice =w=

Edit: If this is just a big stickied thread full of name IDEAS (Maybe I misunderstood) I guess that can be a good idea, but we're still going to get threads asking for suggestions one way or another. People are picky and want certain themes and such. I don't see the harm in doing that, but Idk if it would help as much as you'd hope for it to help :c

Sorry to play negative Nancy here ><

Like Serif said, it may not be such a good idea. I hate using sticky threads - there's just too many people. And most of the time, there's a lot of requests for things but hardly any fulfillment of them
