I find that bubbles mean nothing.

I've seen massive shapes that turned out to be starfish. LOL

I just go after all bubbles and get scallops easily.

I don't do it now as I have all the stuff.

I don't know why people are upset, I get a DIY from him most of the time. It's the pearls I'm lacking. also have both dresses shoes. I'm quite happy.

But yes, I can see how it's frustrating for people who just keep getting pearls. I hope it gets changed, because it makes people less enthusiastic to use a really cool feature of the game which is unfortunate.

When he doesn't appear on my first scallop I don't even bother to look again, such a pain. The pearl/DIY ratio has been balanced for me tho

I haven't had any issues with his rewards myself, but I can see how it would be frustrating to get pearls to someone who actually intends to create the furniture. Then again, how else are you going to get those pearls? By diving for them? good luck

Overall, I find the ratio of DIY/Clothes and Pearls he gives to be around 50-50. If you keep flipping coins with getting the items, you'll eventually get them all in approximately 40 days, so keep diving and don't give up!

I kinda like the pearls being rare while diving, it would feel wrong to have a supposedly rare material show up that often. I also think the feeling of finding a pearl would then eventually be the same one I get when I fish up trash (or eggs lol), where it just feels useless.

I agree that the system could have been better... Having to go through his animations and text for every scallop would be tedious, but it would definitely help to like, always get a diy and then have the ability to give him yesterday's spare scallops in exchange for pearls or something.

Dunno if anybody has tested this theory yet, and I haven't bothered to look into it...but in NL Pascal wouldn't appear depending on WHERE you catch the scallop.

If you're near the barrier, or too close to beach/rocks (basically anything that interrupts his appearing animation) he won't be there.

Only once has he not appeared for me, and I knew I was too close to the barrier. Try chasing the scallop into more 'open' areas before catching it.

agreed - while i still appreciate the pearls as they’re rare and i’ve only been able to find one on my own, i definitely would prefer for the diys to be more common and for pearls to be handed out mostly when all of the diys have been obtained. my luck with finding pascal hasn’t been too shabby but that one time that took 7 scallops before he showed up still haunts me >_<

i have 3 dresses and tiara i will never wear.
feels very misplaced and those mermaid outfits looks kinda basic -
i would just sell them in the ables shop so u can choose if u want those or not.

I'm so in love with the mermaid set and I want the whole thing so badly, but Pascal only gives me pearls I don't time travel and getting the diys is such a pain, I swear - since the update I've gotten 4 diys and 2 pieces of clothing, the rest was just pearls! And don't get me wrong, it's nice that I have pearls for crafting, because they're hard to get by diving, but if I don't have anything to craft with them then what's the point
I really hope they fix it somehow!

I've found him every day since the update and he's given me pearls on every occasion except three.

I've only gotten Pascal once. ONCE. And that was the very first scallop I got, so naturally I told him no because the first always goes to Blathers. I thought by saying no that I screwed it up (like I thought I screwed Redd up) but I don't think that would happen. No matter how many scallops I catch, no matter how empty my pockets are, he never shows up and I'm so sad, I don't know why I have such bad luck with him.

Once Pascal didn't show up until the 8TH scallop AND he gave me a pearl

The rest of the time thankfully he shows up within 1-3 scallops but he does give way too many pearls. Amongst 3 accounts I was able to get 12 DIYs but if I only used one account my main one I would only have 3 at the moment.

I’ve received 4 recipes in a row, then 5 pearls in a row, then a recipe again and then a pearl. So far as I can tell it’s working as intended. If Pascal gave all the DIYs before giving pearls, I’m sure people would complain about the DIYs being useless without the mats just as much as folks complain about having the mats but not the DIYs. It’s a lose-lose situation. But as long as it’s available to hunt in every season, I don’t see the problem. For the impatient, there’s always the option to trade.

Last night I spent an hour trying to find him, after 6 scallops and him not showing up I ended up quitting. Another time I caught 60 sea creatures and no scallops and when I finally got one he didn’t pop out (gates weren’t open) I wish he would spawn 100% after the first one :/ I don’t mind the pearls I’m just happy to see him pop out most of the time.., lol

he's always showed up for me after finding my first scallop, except when I was at a friends island
he also always gives me DIY, but I don't have any pearls to craft them with lol (I have 2 >.<)
