I really hate the addition of fish bait

During Easter I used fishing bait for the 1st tournament and a few times on the pier. Four players used bait and only 2 caught one pier fish.
Started a Player in August and she was able to catch all the fish without bait. Mystery Island is the best place to catch fish.

Fishing in this game is easier than ACNL.

i respect your opinion but personally, i don’t think fish bait has made fishing harder. certain fish have always been rare, such as the sharks, blue marlin, etc and so, bait serves to increase your likelihood of catching them as otherwise, you might be waiting a long time for that certain fish to spawn.

while i haven’t used fish bait for anything other than rare fish (namely the golden trout and the pier fish), i really like the addition of it; i didn’t have much trouble catching fish in new leaf, either, but bait has made it so that i don’t have to spend hours walking up and down the beach or the river waiting for a specific fish to spawn on their own ;u;

Sorry to hear fishing is bumming you out :(( I personally only use it when I really can’t find a fish, or during the fishing tourney. I’m usually good on finding in season fish to catalog.

That said, you don’t have to use the bait, or even be so concerned with catching certain fish. They’ll come back, and your game will always be there.

Now that I think about it, I only used the fish bait like 1-2 times so far? I honestly forget all the time that it even exist. 😅 I just enjoy fishing in the same way I did in the previous games. I didn't try to catch any of those super rare fishes yet (is the Mahi-Mahi one really that hard to get?) and even if I will try it out one day to get them, I will definitely not wasting hours over hours on the dock throwing tons of bait just to get some dumb fish. If I catch it, then it's good. If not, well, guess Blathers will have to deal with it that some fish tanks will not be 100% complete in the museum then.

If this helps at all, the only pier fish I have gotten so far is the Mahi-Mahi which took FOREVER for me to get. Otherwise I've gotten 73/80 fish which imo is pretty good without using fish bait. It's those last few pier fish that are annoying lol. I even found sharks to be more common than in NL for whatever reason. Though the Ocean Sunfish is hiding from me lol
For its worth I've caught quite a few sunfish with no bait, hang in there. I think my definition of a grind is slightly screwed from playing world of warcraft many years ago. I actually said that my daughter dosnt understand "the grind" when she was wondering why I had paid off my home loans and half filled the museum etc when she was still on her firsr room. Yeah this game has a grind, but it's a joy compared to some and relatively easy going.

Fishbait is a godsend for me, especially if the end of the month is nearing and I still haven't caught everything. It's optional anyways.

I only use fish bait for the tournament, which is a pain in the butt. Tried to buy it online, but forgot to, so only went online yesterday, and people are buying the bait at 2 nmt per stack or something on Nookazon. So I had to just get my own bait, which was painful. Is it worth the dry fish rack and the gold trophy? Time will tell.

I just used fish bait for the first time during the fishing tournament and its really useful cause otherwise its hard to catch more than 10 fish max. Other than that I only fish when I want to and am not really interested in finishing the museum any time soon so I haven't been negatively affected by the introduction of bait but I can see the frustration. I'd say just pretend it doesn't exist in the game and continue fishing the way you have in previous games.

I'm not a fan of fish bait either. I rarely use it and even when I do I usually go through all I have and not catch what I'm after(I think I have caught maybe 3 rare fish with bait). What I hate most is crafting it. Having to dig up clams is bad enough but then crafting the bait one at a time is torture. If they simply make it so you can choose how many to craft at once it would be great. I don't mind if the actual crafting takes longer depending on how many I make but just clicking the same buttons over and over is such a slow miserable process. I might use bait more if not for that. But I only need 2 more fish to complete my catalog/museum(blowfish and pond smelt) and I'm pretty sure I won't need bait for those.

Yeah, the fish bait is definitely annoying :u. I used so much to get a lot of pier fish and still couldn’t snatch a tuna. It makes me not want to try for the fish, so I just kind of do it for fun or if I’m looking for a specific species for decorating. :p
