Celeste rarely visits my island until last night. So I decided to open my island and let a few people in. (It's my first time hosting a giveaway. I didn't charge for an entry fee and people can't leave any tip because I totally sealed off my island. :ROFLMAO: There were a few nice people who really wanted to give one though.)

My concern now is getting the acceptable number of players visiting simultaneously. Because I encountered several instances of where people will hop in all the same time which causes a lot of "loading screens" to happen. (I would like to apologise to those people who waited so long just to speak with Celeste.)

If I elected to only let one player in at a time, chances are that the process will take too long. My goal here is to let as many people in because getting Celeste without time traveling is hard. So for those who visit those giveaways, do you mind waiting for those long load times? (I set my island to accept three visitors at that time.)

I've only visited a couple of islands doing giveaways / NPC crafting stuff before, and both times I got interrupted by other people leaving or joining, which seemed fine to me.

The host was doing us all a favour, after all!

I think about three is quite a good amount, and I understand hosts who prefer to keep it on one to two as it may be easier to control.
Waiting for me is usually no problem, and for others it depends on how much they need/want something and the willingness/patience to wait for it.

As someone who sometimes participates in these, I think three is usually a good amount. I have the patience to wait, because the host is not obligated to do something like this. I'm always grateful when people open up their islands so others can experience things that others like me wouldn't always experience. This includes high turnip prices, Celeste, Saharah, or any other NPC.

i like to visit/host giveaways with 2-3 max. i understand the desire for wanting to help more people, but i figure i'd also like it to be a positive experience for the guest and find that hard to achieve when there's like 5+ people coming in and out.

Celeste, if I have her trapped at the airport then I let a max of 4-5 people in at once, depending. If it's a meteor shower then 5 since some people like to stay for the shooting stars.

Generally for things like turnips/shopping/etc I do 2-3 at max.

3-4 is ideal for me as a host! sadly, last time i hosted for high turnip prices on here, it looked like there were a few users who passed the dodo code to their friends (which i could tell since i asked for everyone’s in-game name and island in PMs before i let them in, and there were several names i didn’t recognize), so the experience ended up being a bit more unpleasant than i would have liked 😅 i agree that it’s a fine line between wanting to help everyone and not overwhelming yourself/other players!

I visited one Island and got constantly interrupted with the loading screens (the host specifically allowed us to shop, etc. but I was constantly asked to close my window).
I'm still grateful as I got a Celeste recipe, a villager recipe and a chance to shop and look around the Island but the online multiplayer thing is such a pain at this time.
I suppose a good way to not get your code passed around is asking all visitors to post their in-game name as well as Island.
That way, if you see anyone who has not been invited, you could just end session to keep it safe.

I usually only host giveaways for DIY's and what I started doing now is going over to deliver to the player's Island.
It got really stressful to have several people visiting my Island at the same time.
I would also only consider players with a good number of positive reviews - I know that it may not be too fair for new members but it's just extra security.

Most of the islands I've visited for giveaways only let in 3-4 ppl at a time otherwise there is too much interference. I suggest starting at 3 and if you think you can let one more person in then adding a 4th person, but personally I would only let 3 in at a time.

ive visited loads of celeste hostings, most the time it can be annoying to waot so long to talk, but you have to remember that other people have the same rights as you do ! i do encourage you host small groups of two and then move onto another group of two, just to avoid the long waits! just my take tho!

I usually do 2 or 3, and I've found that especially if you mention how many people you let in at a time in your initial post people are usually very understanding! I also like posts as I go so people can see what kind of wait time they're looking at.

I think if you've got the special character fenced into an area new the airport then 3-4 tends to work quite well as its a quick in and out. When I host DIY's much of my villagers are spread out so I tend to have 2 at a time that way in theory I can lead them over to the house and escort them back. Most people seem cool with this so like other people have said you don't expect the best experience ever when you're getting something for free. I've seen others abuse other peoples islands when I've been on a visit and that does make me a bit hesitant to let too many people over at a time.

friends (which i could tell since i asked for everyone’s in-game name and island in PMs before i let them in, and there were several names i didn’t recognize), so the experience ended up being a bit more unpleasant than i would have liked 😅 i agree that it’s a fine line between wanting to help everyone and not overwhelming yourself/other players!

Ughs why do people do that. Whenever I see names I don't recognize, I turn off the game now and resend the code to people who were still selling turnips. It's so disrespectful, why not just ask me if so and so can come rather than give out my dodo code to randos.

I usually only let in 2 or 3 at a time. Those loading screens are a killer and if you let in more than that, then you're just gonna spend 10+ minutes watching the loading screens for people to arrive. And then you'll have to do the same for when they leave. As a host and visitor, that drives me crazy.

Highly recommend queue managers like turnip.exchange (controversial) or turnips.exchange (my personal favorite) because they make hosting 1000x easier than having to send dodo codes individually.

Thanks to all of your responses. Having two to three guests is the way to go! I will keep this in mind.

I have found that 2/3 is a pretty good number for visitors.

If it is a high visitor track event (such as celeste) 3 seems to be a good number since half the time the line is long, by the time you get to most of them at least one person won't be ready DESPITE YOU TELLING THEM THEY ARE ON DECK AND WILL BE GETTING A CODE IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES MINUTES THEN THEY STILL ARRIVE 15MINS AFTER YOU SENT THE CODE. Which super backlogs the line if you are only doing 2 at a time and can cause a lot of problems if you are doing 4+ because suddenly now everyone is ready at once. lol

My prefered number for visitors is 2. When I do 3 I ALWAYS lose a person and when I try to look for them, one of other the two persons disappears as well. But that's because I can't trap Celeste by airport, so I have to take people to her, and leading them through my maze of an island can be hard. Also, 2 is easier for them to arrive at the same time, when it's 3 somebody is late everytime and they interrupt people when they are talking to her or watching stars. But that's on me trying to be the best host I can considering how hard is to navigate on my island
