I need to rant so bad

I'm not sure if this is the place for it, but this seems to be the general ACNL page so for the love of God someone entertain me.

So back when the game first came out auctions were ALL the rage. I saw them everywhere on Facebook! For characters, sets, items, etc. I've been on this group on Facebook called animal crossing addicts for literally ever, so before I posted on here I wanted to let then have first serve at the Julian I was cycling.

Followed the popularity guide to a T: starting bid 500k, buyout 10mil etc etc. As soon as I make the post a bunch of people start having about how it's a super crappy thing to do, telling people not to bid because they'll just give Julian away for free. Ruuuude??

Yet on the other hand, I see posts where people beg for money all the time on that page. Bell begging is apparently okay but a REASONABLE auction makes people lose their minds??

Needless to say I'll definitely stick to doing my business here. It's kind of sad that so many people think they're just entitled to things for free even in a damn video game nowadays.

Sorry, had to vent.

I can understand why you feel frustrated at this >.< Is it possible that auctions for villagers just aren't a popular thing on that page anymore? I think it was pretty unkind for people to be jumping in and telling others not to even bid on your auction, but if it is more common for people in that community to just give villagers away for free these days, I can see why they'd be surprised from someone coming along trying to get many bells for something that is typically a free trade. However, is auctions for villagers are still a common occurrence over there, then I am truly sorry for the reception you got and hopefully you'll have better luck here ^-^

I mean granted, you are TOTALLY right. I've done two auctions- one for Julian and one for some flowers- and where I used to have raging success with them they're really NOT popular. (I've gotten one comment on each auction &#55357;&#56834;&#55357;&#56834

I probably won't post an auction again just because I haven't had much luck. But the fact that everyone LITERALLY LOST THEIR MINDS over a very polite auction request but we're okay with all the "X happened, does anyone have any bells they can give me" posts, MADE ME SO MAD AIDBRKFKF.

I mean, now that amiibo cards are a thing (I have Julian) villager auctions are probably even less successful and I'll either do a sale or a giveaway or something from now on but BLANRJDKBDKDNEKXNDLFN.

Nah, totally feel you. I used to be part of this Google+ group. Started out nice, you know, like being part of a game community. But literally every single day, someone's brother accidentally deleted their game... can someone give them bells, Marshal, Julian, etc. I mean, how often does that really happen? It would be the same exact person every day, yet there's always someone who is like, "Oh wow, that's so sad. I can give you bells. How many do you need?" Then the same person, the next day, would tell people she's resetting her town and she needs people to hold her stuff. C'mon.

So I switched to this forum. No begging posts.

I think there's a bit more interest in the bell tree bells (forum currency) vs. in-game bells. Taking 10 million bells out of your ABD and transferring it to another person's town is not as easy as transferring bell tree bells here in the forum. I don't see too many successful auctions. I think you're better off asking for a set price.

I searched for a while trying to find a great ACNL community to be apart of. I searched through google+ groups, random forums, tumblr, a vast amount of places and I'm so glad I picked here.

I lurked here for months and months before I even decided to get involved in anything. As far as auctions go I've only seen one auction so far. I think your best bet would be to sell here because like Elderpops said, bell tree bells are quite a big thing here. I also have to say I've never once seen anyone bell begging or anything similar. Which is very refreshing because a lot of the other communities are swamped with it.

I think you'll find a lot of luck with selling things here! I've read a lot that the forum has been kinda slow lately but Re-Tail and the Villager Trading Plaza is always booming with business!
