I need help deciding on villagers for my new town

Hello everyone! I'm going to start a new town after the new year begins and I need some help deciding on villagers. I'll warn you that this is kind of long and messy because I have 22 villagers which I'm considering for 10 spots. I'm making a northern wilderness themed town, so I'm looking for natural looking animals which are able to live in colder climates. Here are my criteria which I will base my selections on:

• I like natural looking colors. I don't want much makeup or rosy cheeks.
• I like animals which can live in colder climates
• I want to have at least one villager of each personality
• I want gender balance in my town (5 male, 5 female)

So here are my finalists listed by personality with my pros and cons for me. Please help me decide on who I should take for each personality plus my two "wildcards".



Cranky:

Grizzly

Pros: He looks very tough and natural​

Cons: There isn't much I don't like about him. He is pretty much automatic for me.​

Apollo

Pros: He also looks tough and natural, but not as much as Grizzly​

Cons: I don't know if I want two Cranky villagers. I've had him before and am kind of hoping for more original villagers in my new town​

Jock:

Jay

Pros: He looks natural and would be a good couple with Robin.​

Cons: Pierce is bigger and more tough looking for a jock​

Pierce

Pros: Had him in my original Animal Crossing game, so big nostalgia factor there.​

Cons: I like the idea of having both Jay and Robin and I'm not sure there's room for Pierce if I keep those two​

Lazy:

Beau

Pros: He's a deer who fits in well with my town theme.​

Cons: He's extremely popular and I like having unique villagers.​

Erik

Pros: He's a deer too.​

Cons: Looks kind of cartoonish to me.​

Normal:

Poppy

Thanks to Fresco 3332 for suggesting her. She's a nice natural looking squirrel.​

Cons: Not much. I like her.​

Molly

Pros: She is a natural looking duck who fits well with my theme.​

Cons: She is kind of popular, but not as much as Beau​

Aurora

Pros: She is natural looking and a cold weather animal​

Cons: She is more Antarctic than northern wilderness​

Chevre

Pros: Kind of looks like a mountain goat​

Cons: I don't like the freckles or long eyelashes.​

Lolly

Pros: I really like the way she looks and I really like cats. She would have been my 11th villager in Catopia if I could have that many.​

Cons: Domesticated animal. Blue isn't a natural color​

Kiki

Pros: I really like cats and she looks natural.​

Cons: Domesticated animal​

Peppy:

Ruby:

Pros: Thanks to Fresco 3332 for suggesting this. She is a cute snow bunny.​

Cons: She has freckles, but they are not that annoying.​

Flora

Pros: The only really natural looking pink villager and I really liked her in my other town​

Cons: I don't think a flamingo is a cold weather animal​

Agent S

Pros: I like the superhero look like with Kid Cat and I think a squirrel would be a nice fit for my town​

Cons: The superhero look is totally unnatural.​

Nibbles

Pros: She's a squirrel.​

Cons: Green is an unnatural color and I don't like the freckles.​

Peanut

Pros: She's a squirrel.​

Cons: Pink is an unnatural color.​

Smug:

Henry

Pros: Looks natural and gives me some species variety.​

Cons: Kind of boring looking.​

Klaus

Pros: Another big tough looking bear​

Cons: Looks somewhat unnatural​

Snooty:

Robin

Pros: She looks natural and would go well with Jay.​

Cons: I can't think if any major reasons to not like her.​

Amelia

Pros: I like eagles and she could go well with Apollo.​

Cons: I read that she resembles a bird from South America which kind of goes against my theme. I don't know if I want two snooties and I really like Robin.​

Pecan

Pros: She's a fairly natural looking squirrel except for the eyeliner.​

Cons: I don't like her appearance as much overall as the other two snooties.​

Uchi:

Phoebe

Pros: I think she looks really cool and pretty and I had her in my other town.​

Cons: A phoenix isn't a real bird and I don't think it goes very well with my theme.​

Deirdre

Pros: She is a deer which I like and she was also once a resident of Catopia.​

Cons: I don't like the rosy cheeks.​

That sounds like a good list. It would be like having the two big bears surround by a bunch of little woodland critters (I'd probably go with Nibbles over Flora in that scenario). I also like that this list doesn't have too many birds (I like them, but I don't want my town full of them). I still don't know whether I should go with Beau or Erik. Like I said, I like Beau's look better, but I'm wondering if I should deliberately avoid him because he's so popular or just go with my favorite regardless.

I would probably choose Erik. His whole house and appearance are a lot more tundra-y than Beau.

Lolly appears to be blueish gray at least in the pictures I've seen of her. If she is pure gray, then let me know.

I didn't expect so many people to recommend Erik over Beau. Maybe I won't be a Beau-bo after all.

Yes, she is pure gray. The reason she looks blue is because her fur is a lighter shade of gray so whenever she's against a white or very bright background it makes her look even lighter. When she's against a darker background her gray coloring shows up well. I'll try to get a good picture of her when I can.

Jay - You clearly like him and Pierce is blue so kinda unnatural.
Erik - If you like original, unique villagers then Erik is the better choice, Beau resembles a gazelle or something anyway...
Molly - She's the only one to fit the specification, Lolly and Kiki are cats, Aurora is a Penguin from the south and Ch?vre is a goat.
Bianca/Ruby - Nibbles, Peanut and Agent S all look very unnatural, she would fit your theme so well although she's not on your list...
Henry - Really cute, has colour and looks normal at the same time.
Deirdre - Again, she looks very natural, Phoebe, not so much..,
Robin - You clearly like her, and Amelia is an African eagle of some sort...
Poppy - Not on your list but a regular looking squirrel, she's a normal and a great one at that

I'm not sure why I didn't think of Ruby. She does look like a cute snow bunny. I'll definitely consider her. Poppy looks good too. Thanks for the suggestions.

After thinking for a little while, I think I'm going to go with Fresco's list after she suggested Ruby and Poppy. So that's Grizzly, Jay, Erik, Molly, Ruby (Christmas birthday!), Henry, Deirdre, Robin, and Poppy making up 9 of the villagers. I like that Jay and Robin and Erik and Deirdre are a cute pair of relationships. Everyone else is SOL and condemned to live single for the rest of their lives. I just have to decide on the final spot which has to be male to maintain gender balance. So I'm thinking either Apollo or Klaus.

Apollo: The definition of American patriotism being an eagle born on July 4 and successfully landing on the moon. He also looks pretty natural.

Klaus: He's a big bear who looks like he's made of stone. Not exactly natural looking, but it seems kind of like a forest creature and adds a fairy-tale element to my town.

I'm kind of leaning towards Apollo to keep everyone looking natural. If there is a natural looking male villager I haven't thought of, please let me know.

With Apollo, I'd have no tier 1 villagers, four tier 2 villagers, two from tier 3, and four from tier 5. Not that I really care, but it's nice to not have the tier 1 villagers that everyone else has. It's also good that my list isn't full of tier 5's which are going to get auto-voided by people.
