I haven't played this game in months, but I got really excited about the new update and downloaded it and booted it up immediately tonight. I usually play my game in real time, but the update set my clock to New Year of 2012... I want the date set to today, but I have all of my dreamies and my town decorated to my liking. I don't want to risk messing anything up... I don't think there's anything I can do besides live in the year 2012, but let me know if anybody can think of anything that may help. Sorry if another post like this has already been made, I quit TBT when I stopped playing ACNL daily. I'm posting this a bit frantically.

I THINK if someone asks to leave, and you stop them, you should be able to TT to present day. Ask someone else as well. I've never tried this.

I think if you login and find out who wants to move, then stop them, and then TT to the right date you should be fine. I hadn't played my game in like 2-3 weeks, and when I came back everyone was still home. Nobody was in boxes either, but someone did ping me to leave after I was speaking to them all again!

I'd hate to straight up say this works ALL the time but it has always worked for me.

You're town will probably be in shambles considering you'd be skipping almost five years, but as for the specific damage you'll be doing I can't say. You could try skipping ahead a month at a time and see what would happen? You'd still have to TT A ton of times before you get back on track but it might not be as bad. I'd be more than happy to help you find your dreamies and get a new town set up if you want to restart though, just PM me:)

Thank you so much for offering, it means a lot. I just don't have the time anymore to restart everything. That's why I stopped playing ACNL for a few months *sigh* I might try doing what everyone else is saying (thanks, everyone!). I'd rather risk my town becoming hideous than lose my villagers, I think.

And another thing I forgot to add- the date getting messed up is due to my 3DS having a dead battery. The date on the system reset itself. I'm not sure if this makes a difference.

Hey! I saw you have a problem with your year and I have a solution for you.

1. Do not change the date yet.

2. Log on to your mayor. Only one of your vilagers (or none) should have moved with any luck.

3. Enact the beautiful town ordinance. This will keep you from getting a lot of weeds when you time travel.

4. Play in 2012 (no time traveling) until someone asks to move. Tell them no, make sure they agree to stay, and save and quit.

5. Change your date on your ds clock, not on animal crossing. Go to system settings. Change the date to present day. If your clock was already present day, go up two years.

6. Make a new character on animal crossing in present day. Check to see if everyone's still there. Go into each hoise to see if someone is in boxes.

7. If it worked, power off and play as your mayor. You have saved your town!

This worked before the update, it hopefully does still.

Thanks for the step by step guide, daisy! I might have resolved it though... I turned off the game without saving and set my DS clock to the correct date. My town looks perfectly fine on the title screen still. Now I'm just waiting and watching my villagers walk around town to see if anyone left before starting up my game. So far so good.

This is probably my last question. If I see all my villagers on the title screen, does this mean they will 100% still be in town when I load up the game?

Every villager is still at home sweet home. All that happened was I finally got a weed pulling badge (like the only badge I don't have, lol). This ended up being not so bad. Thanks, everyone!

No. The title screen doesn't always show you exactly what your town will look like for some reason. When I was plot resetting, I'd see the plot in one spot on the title screen and then when I created a new character, it would be somewhere else, so I wouldn't trust the title screen. I'd create a new character if you can and use that to check if any villagers are in boxes and obviously quit without saving if one of them is in boxes.

once i saw a plot on the title screen, but it didn't actually show up in my town until over a week later. you can't trust the title screen to tell you if your villagers are all there.

Ah, okay. Thanks, guys! I didn't really wait around for an answer. I just tried it out. All my villagers are still there and everything worked out really well!
